whatever the cost is will be covered by a relative;
SHSAT is the test required to get into the specialized high schools in NYC.
APs are extremely competitive to get into at my school. As for the numbers, I only ask because a lot of people I am familiar with got in today through ED1 with similar GPAs and I was curious about my chances as well.
My 2023 with a 97 average and more APs/ECs was waitlisted at NYU last year, but you never know! She didn’t submit test scores and yours is great so that’s got to help. Definitely go for it but cast a wide range of schools you’ll be happy with. Hope for the best, prep for the worst. There are DOZENS, probably hundreds of awesome schools who would be thrilled to have you and that you will thrive at. GOOD LUCK!!
Unfortunately, that indicates a lower chance of acceptance at NYU, but you never know - so apply if it’s your current top choice. Keep in mind though, that NYU’s aid package includes loans.
Where else have you applied EA and where do you plan to apply RD? Do you have any acceptances in hand?
I think the guidance counselor at your specialized HS would be the best source of advice.
ETA: Be sure the financial aid works (run net price calculator) before applying ED2 – the aid at NYU is not always the most generous. Stern is a tough admit.
The two most important things are to make sure that you have applied to at least one and preferably two safeties, and to pay attention to your budget. Just for now I will assume that you have this covered well (however, you need to be sure that you have this covered).
The next thing that comes to mind is that you appear to be attending a specialized high school. This makes it very difficult to know how to interpret your 90.65 GPA. This would be very low for NYU if you were from the public high school where I live now. It would have been very good at the public high school that I attended years ago (and would have put you as the #2 student in the high school and knocked me down one notch). It sounds like NYU will be familiar with the grading scales at your high school, so how your grades compare with others in your high school is going to matter a great deal more than how it compares with students from other high schools.
Your SAT is VERY good. Congratulations!
Volunteering at a hospital is very good, as is tutoring.
I really think that this could go either way. Perhaps I might guess that it is a low reach. This does of course imply that you might want to just not worry about it (if that is possible) and focus on making sure that you are happy with the safeties and matches that you have applied to. Stonybrook and Binghamton at least based on what I know are very good. I do not know whether or not they are safeties for you but I would expect that your chances are probably very good at both of them.
I think that you are likely to do well wherever you end up. Also, let us know how this goes. Good luck and best wishes.
You need to pay attention to finances as well. Did you run the net price calculator to see if NYU appears affordable? If not, I would do so before submitting an ED2 application.
I think OP has a good shot at Binghamton and Stony Brook, but I definitely would not consider them safties. Very good advice to have some legit safties that you can see yourself being happy at!
