At the same time, it may be your best shot, unless you evaluate your financial situation as being better than most likely applicants from your country (outside of the generals/leaders’ kids, who will be full pay).
If Amherst ED2 doesn’t work, you can take a gap year, take the SAT as soon as it’s available to you, and try to get a merit scholarship at a university that offers those based on scores.
If you could tell us how much your family can afford it’d also help (3K is treated differently from 16k is treated differently from 35k…)
At Emory, your best shot would have been applying for Emory Scholars - it’d have increased your odds of admission.
