Doesn’t Emory meet full need for all students though, regardless if one is accepted to Emory Scholars? Of course, we don’t yet know OP’s financial situation/EFC.
While I understand Amherst is need blind for internationals and Emory is not, Amherst has far fewer slots for unhooked students (international and domestic) than Emory does.
I agree it might be best for OP to consider a gap year.
