Chance me for PSU/Jefferson, RPI/Albany, and GWU???

@grfmky, @bearchichi ,

@bearchichi, first let me congratulate your family, that’s an amazing track record of accomplishment that would make any family so proud of, congratulations.

I feel in case of @grfmky, even if he gets perfect results in everything from now on, it is a rather long shot, perhaps even for URM candidates. If he/she has at least a a year of studies ahead to demonstrate consistent progress and to bring up the grades, then there could be chances. (I believe an UW GPA of 3.6 at a bare minimum as requirement irrespective of how ultra competitive, prestigious or tough school one may be attending and how super solid all other factors may be). It appears @grfmky finished the junior year already and so not enough lead time to accomplish that, assuming what appears is the case here. So realistically speaking I don’t see much scope, even though he/she can apply for few and try out without having too much of expectations.

Alternatively some schools seem to have decent direct D.O. programs which are relatively easier to get in but with great residency match results later on (one of the last posts in the official thread). Also there seems to be one unified residency matching scheme for both M.D and D.O grads from 2020 on wards.

Or, the traditional route (4 years undergrad + MCAT and the whole 9 yards) with prior strategy on how to plan well ahead and execute the next few years. I would recommend to take some time to go through the various posts (or all) on the latest Official thread to get perspectives of what to expect and to plan for future accordingly if traditional route is the choice.

Good luck with everything.
