<p>Gap year: Lived in Norway for a year and worked on my art and photography at a non-degree school, spent a month volunteering in Thailand and briefly taught English at Mae-La-Oon refugee camp</p>

<p>Also, something that will help me get into Oberlin is that the leader and Norwegian teacher of my month-long, high school study abroad trip to Norway was an obie and later went to become a beloved visiting professor of creative writing there for 3 years. She agreed to write a bonus email for me, which will be great. She knows me really well, as there were only 3 other students on my trip.</p>
