Chance me for Skidmore and Oberlin; ease my anxiety!

<p>I’m a first-semester junior at Hampshire applying for a spring 2012 position at Oberlin (my first choice), Skidmore, and Earlham. Let me know how you think I stand up to the competition, please!</p>

<p>HS info:
gpa: 2.7ish
SAT math: 550
SAT reading: 660
SAT writing: 650
Extra curriculars: award-winning cellist, award winning varsity nordic skier and team captain, other jv sports
Work experience: Norwegian teacher at language immersion summer camp, cashier at Trader Joe’s, and member of curatorial committee at modern art museum</p>

<p>Gap year: Lived in Norway for a year and worked on my art and photography at a non-degree school, spent a month volunteering in Thailand and briefly taught English at Mae-La-Oon refugee camp</p>

<p>College info:
Hampshire College
3.8ish gpa (earned from the 5 college consortium, Hampshire doesn’t give grades, just evaluations–but those are all positive)
Editor for school paper
Semester abroad in Rome-- I now speak fluent Italian and Norwegian as well as intermediate German and French</p>

<p>Also, something that will help me get into Oberlin is that the leader and Norwegian teacher of my month-long, high school study abroad trip to Norway was an obie and later went to become a beloved visiting professor of creative writing there for 3 years. She agreed to write a bonus email for me, which will be great. She knows me really well, as there were only 3 other students on my trip.</p>
