Chance me for Smith, NYU, or SUNY Geneseo?

Hello, this is my first time using CC and since the most popular posts seem to be the “what are my chances?” I decided to give it a go. Below are my stats

Hispanic, would be 1st in my family to go to college

GPA: 3.5
SAT: CR 660, M 560, WR 700 (1920)

ECs: Vice president for violin ensemble, super important leadership position to mentor sophomores, volunteer at a hospital in emergency room, volunteer with a university to welcome back pilgrims from Lourdes, France, Eucharistic Minister for school liturgies, tutored children at a local shelter, member of the mock trial team

Planning on majoring in English Lit with a minor in either Political science or history

Rec letters were from my English and Global History teachers, should be well done. My global history teacher is an NYU alumni

My common app essay was pretty good, if I do say so myself. It brought one of my teachers to tears, actually so I guess that’s good?

Let me know if more info is needed, basically I’m just curious to see if I have any shot at these schools

ALSO my high school doesn’t rank because it’s very competitive

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

forgot to mention that I took several honors classes throughout freshman-junior years and this year I took one AP class (Composition)

NYU is a reach, as is Smith. Not impossible but a reach. A math score of under 600 is a real issue for admission. If you have time I would advise you to retake the SAT, even 40 extra points on the math would greatly improve your chances. Best of Luck!

First in your family will help a lot. I’d say you have a good chance at Smith - NYU it might depend on the college.
