Schools

Ideally I want to go to a texas school with a good cs program, as I get in state tuition (but not in state acceptance rate) I’m not sure what schools I have a chance at getting into, and what schools I should apply for in this list as targets to have the best change at:

I want to know my chances of getting into TAMU College of Engineering if I apply by the October 15 deadline. What other targets could I add to my list?

Note that TAMU ETAM (secondary admission to major) is highly competitive for CS. Expect to need at least a 3.75 college GPA to get in.

Have you verified the residency for tuition purposes in both MO and TX?

I have verified my in state residency for Texas (not for acceptance but for tuition). I just want to get into A&M; I’ll be able to keep up due to my current course rigor and work hard for my goals. When I first came into high school I was too lazy and didn’t prioritize my grades whatsoever, but have found a work ethic throughout the years and can excel in the TAMU Engineering curriculum

Do you go to a public or private hs ?

In general I’d say not great. But try. In Texas alone you’ve got UTD, Tech,Houston and more.

At your budget, Mizzou, Missouri Science & #Tech, KU, K State, Iowa State and more.

To me a reach and as @ucbalumnus poinyd out getting into the school doesn’t mean your desired discipline.

Try - but you need others too IMHO.

I go to a public school, and I’m also considering options like UTD, but TAMU would be great if I can get in

Apply and try but you need backups - check the cost of ASU. I think it’s a tad above but they have a calculator.

Houston, Tech, Lamar and I suggested others close to Missouri.

Check the UMN calculator too. Many get $15k but if you get nothing it’s too much. Plus it’s not assured you get in.

You need an assured and affordable safety to pair with A&M. Only they can truly chance you.

TAMU has rolling admissions and the application opened on August 1. If this school is a priority for you, you should have applied two months ago and you would have heard back by now. It’s unlikely at this point.

Look at the schools suggested by @tsbna44.

It says on the Common Data Set that they only consider standardized test scores. Do you think my ACT would have any impact on my consideration academics wise? I feel like my essays and EC’s are good enough to be able to get in, but the grades are holding me back.

I’m not an admissions officer, but your GPA appears to be too low, you’re OOS and you’ve waited too long to submit an application. Go ahead and apply, but make sure you have a list of safety and target schools.

Will do, thank you.

OP I agree with momofthree24…you can apply to TAMU, but admission should be considered a reach/unlikely. Did you get your app into UT Dallas yet? Where does your updated list stand?
