Hi, please chance me for Andover, Choate, and Hotchkiss (I’m really worried ahh)
applying to 9th Grade
GPA: (don’t have honors/advanced classes in our school)
IB scale (converted roughly to AP standards): All As in 6th and 7th Grade
Have worse grades this year for my first-term report (first-term grades are not marked in our final report, but for 8th grade I only had the first-term option – teachers tend to give worse grades for first-term reports too)
I have one VERY BAD grade for English after misreading instructions (the rest are As)
I have two roughly A-s for my arts class (idk why) and also two roughly A-s for humanities/history (idk why for this either)
SSAT: (99 math, okay verbal, but 85 reading)
International school
EC: hockey national team in my country, but my multimedia videos were def. not my best (none of my recent games were recorded)
Writing (commended for an international writing competition) - I really like writing
play clarinet at an intermediate level (but prob. not gonna include video in my app)
raised 2500 dollars in a fundraiser for mental health
learning trigonometry and calc. but this is sort of a norm in my school
I never took the amc but planning to take amc8 this yr
Other:
My essays are maybe too emotional but very descriptive
Interviews were all okay, except Exeter that the interviewer was basically reading off list, and Andover with a very “unexpected??” interview with an alumni who was very passionate and talked to me for like nearly an hour (I did good here though)
talkative and very passionate
I love sports, but def not arts person but my top is Hotchkiss
I think okay rec letters tho I just asked a science teacher for my SI rec cuz I didn’t know I could ask my coach (I love science but I’ve never really “learned it” deeply)
