I’m looking to transfer at the end of my first year, while keeping my options open with fallback schools, I am curious to know if I’m qualified to even apply at UC-Berkeley graduated a year early and I’m currently in my first semester at community college, I’m looking for an academically competitive setting as a transfer. Here is my academic profile:
4.06 Weighted High school GPA in 3 years
3.8 College GPA (Subject to change)
I was homeschooled so I don’t have class rank which I’m aware will probably break my application
Extracurriculars:
A3 Soccer Varsity Team’s Leading Scorer
Starting Left-Midfielder for club at the DII Super level
I teach elementary schoolers art as an after school program volunteer
I’m working to build my EC’s over winter break by participating in Toy drives for the less fortunate, I’ve already registered
NOTE: If UC-Berkeley isn’t a fit, feel free to suggest schools I would be qualified for! I feel I have a realistic grasp on my abilities, and understand how competitive the rigor of a nationally accredited four year institution is. Be honest not harsh; I stated I have fall back schools, I consider myself to have a unique approach to academics, With the construct of such being: Working towards the goals I set for myself. On that note, I’m curious to hear others opinions on my resume, what schools I would qualify for, and what I could work on to improve my application
UC Berkeley accepts Junior level transfers with 60 semester/90 quarter units. HS GPA, test scores, EC’s are not considered only what you have accomplished at your community college.
Are you a CA resident?
I’m aware, and intend to attend my Sophomore year. (24 Credit Hours) I am a Texas Resident, but I’m blessed enough to say tuition isn’t a very prevalent problem in my case
Would you be willing to suggest other schools my qualifications would match?
If you are aware of the Junior level standing required for UCB, why ask if you are qualified since you are not at this point?
What are your SAT/ACT test scores since they will be considered as a Sophomore level transfer at the following private schools?
With only 1 semester of college under your belt, none of the California public schools will be an option. I suggest you look at some of the private schools such as the Claremont Consortium (Harvey Mudd, Pomona, Claremont McKenna), Stanford, Santa Clara, USC (Univerisity of Southern California) to name a few California schools.
Forgot to ask about intended major?
Okay… and thank you, My SAT’s were moderately average I cannot remember the exact number but it was in the range of 1300/1600, however, your suggestions will really help, My intended major is business, economics or communications, I’m currently a liberal arts major as a general way of earning the credits to transfer
I’m 17, and still don’t know yet ? in regards to my low SAT’s, my homeschool program didn’t offer test preps and my coursework consumed the time I would have spent on a public school test prep class
Would you recommend that I retake?
For the schools listed, you might want to consider retaking if these schools will accept test scores after you have started community college. You need to verify the transfer requirements for each target school.
The schools suggested are just that and many are high reach schools so you need to do some research on which schools will fit you best. Are you only focusing on California schools?
