Also, this summer I will have the opportunity to travel to Nicaragua with Global Glimpse for volunteer work. So excited!

You have a pretty high SAT score, I wouldn’t waste your time taking the dreaded SAT again. I got accepted in UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, University of San Francisco, and the University of the Pacific with an SAT score of 1660. SAT only matter when it comes to private schools and determining how much scholarship money you will receive. I too come from a low income family and of Vietnamese background. I will be attending UC Davis with a biology major on the pre-med track in the fall of 2014. Just write a kick-ass essay and you will for sure get accepted . In your personal, statement I would write about why you want to pursue the medical field and what event or person inspired you to follow this path. Good luck!

I’d definitely retake your SAT. I know kids from my school who got a 2200 and were rejected from UC Davis, but that was due to their lack of ec. If you can bump up that score, you have a pretty solid chance in my opinion

UC Davis: High Match
USF/UOP: Low Match
UC Davis weighs GPA more than Test Scores but if you have a chance, I would retake the SAT to put yourself in a better position. Good Luck.

Thank you everyone for your input!
