<p>Ya know, this is really upsetting to me. Xelink this is no way criticizing you or anything like that. I just cannot believe community colleges don’t successfully inform people when very important things (like TAG deadlines) are. It’s unbelievable.</p>
<p>One can argue that this is college and we’re all out to fend for ourselves, and I understand that, but one has to consider that alot of students, such as xelink also work a substantial amount on top of school and/or have other responsibilities as well. Consequently, it limits the amount of time one has to figure this sort of stuff out.</p>
<p>Sure, maybe one’s community college has a website with a small calendar that says when the TAG deadline is, but the majority of CC students, or at least a substantial amount of them are ignorant of these deadlines because many do not know of the calendar or do not think to look…and some are even ignorant of the TAG process, itself!</p>
<p>In no way am I placing any blame on any specific people here, but I am frustrated with the ineffectiveness of the community colleges and informing the students of these important deadlines. Yes, responsibility is partially, or mostly the student’s, however, the college one attends should be conducive in any and all ways possible to education and furthering the students’ education to a 4-year. </p>
<p>I may be generalizing, but at least in my experience and at my community college, I didn’t even know about the TAG process until my 4th semester here. Fortunately, I found it to be one of the most valuable and essential pieces of information I’ve learned since coming here, and I’m happy for the opportunities that it provides for myself (UCD/UCSD TAG) and for others.</p>
<p>I don’t have the magical answer to fix the system or improve the amount of information/method of distribution that community colleges release. However, I really wish that there was a straight-forward paper or letter that could periodically inform students of important dates coming up and what qualifies students for certain things (like TAG’s/Honors Programs). </p>
<p>I just don’t like hearing about qualified students who work hard, maintain strong GPA’s, and aspire to transfer to a good university being in the dark about important information.</p>
<p>Sorry for the rant guys, this is my first I think lol. And xelink I apologize for hijacking momentarily. btw I would say you are definitely in at all 3 universities. Best of luck to you.</p>
