Please chance me for UCSB (Letters and Science), UCLA (Letters and Science), and USC (Annenberg)! White/female/in-state/junior. Not first generation. Moved here from the UK when I was a toddler (if that makes any difference).

Numbers:
SAT - 2170 (740M, 740CR, 690W)
Superscore - 2200 (740, 740, 720)
UC GPA - around 4.08
Unweighted - around 3.8 [due to a slightly iffy freshman year… I took a notoriously difficult honors geometry class (no grade bump) and got a C]
Weighted classes - 3 last semester (English Honors, AP Bio, AP Comp Gov), 2 this semester (World Religions replaced comp gov)
Got an unweighted 4.0 last year with no AP classes - my school doesn’t offer any to sophomores.
Senior year course load - AP Lit, AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, AP Enviro, Gov/Econ, Graphic Design
Will have taken Spanish for 6 years (4 in high school)
Haven’t taken AP tests yet but I’ll probably get a 5 in AP Lang and a 3 or possibly a 4 in AP Bio and AP Comp Gov.
Taking SAT ii in US History, Bio (m), and Literature. No expectations for the first two but hope to break 700 in Lit.

Extracurriculars:
1 year JV + 3 years varsity basketball
Volunteered at a girls’ basketball camp (twice a week from March --> May in 2015)
Worked as a counselor at a middle school girls’ basketball camp for a week in July, going to do it again this summer
4 years in Amnesty International (club)

  • VP junior year and P senior year
  • Won best high school chapter of the west coast at the Amnesty Western Regional Conference in November due to our effective Write for Rights campaign and many actions
  • Fundraised a significant amount of money to travel to the Western Regional Conference and the Annual General Meeting (brought what we learned back to our high school and are in the process of making positive changes and raising awareness)
    3 years in Feminism Club
    5ish hours a week babysitting
    Spent maybe 10-20 hours a week last summer babysitting and am planning on doing the same this summer
    3 years of volunteering twice a week at a local organization that sends books to prisoners all over the country

I’ve started working on my UC essays and I think they’re going to be pretty good. I have a ton of material to work with.

Teacher / counselor recs should be decent.

Any input would be appreciated! It would also be super helpful if you could suggest some more match schools (like what % acceptance rate should I be looking at?).

  • I’m on student leadership this year and will be next year also
  • PSAT score is 1340/1520 which I know doesn’t really mean anything but I’ll likely be commended

For UCs your supperscore as well as your freshman year are not relevant.

@uclaparent9 I’m aware! Only included because I want to be chanced for USC (which considers both superscore and freshman year grades).

I think you have good chances with USC and UCSB (matches). For UCLA: high match.
