Essays/LORs/Other
For LORS UGA allows two, one from a teacher and one from another source that is not a teacher. The teacher essay was from my AP Lang teacher from sophomore year and if I had to guess it was pretty solid as we had a good relationship. Probably a solid 7-8/10. The other letter was from my old Scoutmaster, who led my troop from the time I joined last summer, which was 90% of the time I was in Scouts. I think this letter is much better and is really solid as he has seen me come from Cub Scouts and learn everything Scouting has to offer along with my Eagle Project which was described by himself as one of the best-led projects he’s ever seen, easy 9-9.5/10.

The personal essay prompt was about an event that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others. I wrote about how a high adventure (which is basically just a longer and harder camping trip) to the wilderness of Maine for two weeks taught us the strength in leadership and bonding as a team. I think it’s a solid essay and unique, probably about an 8/10.

GSU (Accepted)

One factor I would also like to point out is the way UGA calculates their GPA for admission purposes is by taking your core classes on a 4.0 scale (being an A, 100-90 is 4 points, B 89-80 is a 3.0, and so on) adding up all the points from them, and giving an extra point per AP class taken per semester, and dividing by the total number of classes, meaning the more APs you take the higher your GPA gets boosted. Due to this, makes my UGA GPA low compared to most, but rigor-wise, dual enrollments are looked at the same as APs, just not given the “quality point”. This is what I’m reeeeeaaaallly worried about in my application.

If you have any questions I’ll be happy to answer them and thanks for the feedback : )

50/50. SAT excellent but UGA gpa is below the 25th percent.

All you can do is wait and have backups. Every other public in Ga is an in - for hope - or Alabama is a pure sub where you’ll get so much money it would cost not much more.

Good luck.

Let me tell you - there’s not just one school out there for you. There are many. And all have issues.

Waiting stinknd hopefully UGA comes through, but if not, you won’t lose anything.

You will make your life - not UGA or W Georgia or Bama etc

I think you have a very good chance at acceptance. You are correct that UGAs weighted GPA calculation disadvantages DE students. I know several in-state students the past few years who were initially deferred but later accepted in RD. IMO you have a better than even shot at being one of them once your file gets a more thorough holistic review.

Congratulations on the acceptances you have in hand. You are going to college  so now it’s just a waiting game to know all your choices.

Best wishes and Go Dawgs!
