Hi! I’m a out of state student from Delaware, I go to a big public high school (so out of state)
Visited campus once, applied EA as a biology major
Stats:
Full IB diploma candidate
UW: 3.5
W: 4.1
Top 15% of my class
Classes Im taking this year are pretty rigorous: IB HL English, IB Math studies, IB SL Chemistry, IB HL French, IB HL Biology, IB TOK/EE, IB HL History of the Americas
I got a 25 (almost 26) on the act, this is why Im worried that Umass Amherst would be a reach for me.
Extracurriculars:
4 year field hockey player (varsity/jv)
3 year head camp counselor at a summer camp. worked 8 hrs a day 5 days a week every summer from freshman year to junior year summer. Got counselor of the week every summer
Created our community’s civic association website my sophomore year.
Got a 30/30 on my personal project (a really big mosaic) sophomore year
2 year NHS member
4 year Blue Gold member
almost 2 years working at an after school program for kids everyday after school.
Relay For Life head of financial committee my sophomore year (I would have sticked with the club but after that year my school administration shut it down because of low participation in our school… i wrote that in my application, so annoying)
I thought my recommendations would be good. One from my french teacher who i have had for four years, and another from my math tutor since freshman year, she knows me pretty well.
Wrote my essay on an experience with one of my campers that I had this past summer, thought it was a good representation of who i am
Note: my dad is deceased and I live with my single mom, not sure if this would influence my application
My dad also went to Umass amherst.
Any opinions appreciated, thanks
