Chance Me for UMich/GT/UT/Purdue + other colleges [TX resident, 3.96 GPA, 1590 SAT, computer engineering]

UW-Madison, I think is direct admit. An added advantage would be a unrestricted CS major if he changes his mind. Do fact check with the school, this is what I remember.

Wisconsin engineering has progression requirements that are like secondary admission. Computer engineering requires a 3.2 technical and 2.5 overall college GPA to stay in the major.

Thanks. There is also non-automatic progression, but it might be a risky path.

I think to be honest, doing some calculations with the amount of AP’s I’ve taken, I’d be able to reduce my cost at UIUC to Purdue’s level of cost, in addition UIUC is ranked #4 for CpE.

Rank isn’t relevant. It sells magazines.

No reason to consider Ga Tech

If you can reduce via APs at Illinois, you can at Purdue too. But strongly consider retaking foundational courses.

They are a short drive apart. They are very different. My son loved one. Hated the other. Couldn’t wait to leave.

You will be there four years, day after day.

Go visit. It’s very important.

I would be interested to learn how an OOS applicant can get UIUC cheaper than Purdue. There are many Illinois residents who leave for border state schools due to UIUC high in-state prices, and OOS tuition is 40k+. Purdue, Mizzou and both Iowa schools are full of Chicago kids.

It’s really not feasible. OOS tuition at UIUC is roughly 9k more a year than at Purdue. For the numbers to be even, you need to graduate UIUC in three years, which would be extremely difficult given course sequencing and scheduling. Even with a ton of AP credits this would be difficult.

Capped ut unfortunately. I’ve realized that truth about UIUC, but I still think it should be lower than sticker price for me. My plan is either do A&M for 2 years, grind really hard, and then try for Georgia Tech, or just go to UIUC for 4 years.

Or go A&M for four years !!! Great school.

You will make your success. And you will.

Assuming the OP makes the 3.75 college GPA to get into computer engineering or computer science during secondary admission (ETAM).

Additional school I applied to RD: University of Florida, due to personal factors, and I included the new updates in my RD application. Do I have a solid shot?

Yes if you applied on time you’ll get into UF.

Do you mean applied a few days before the application deadline?

At the deadline. I believe if after the deadline it’s in a space avail.

Stats wise you’ll get into UF - if applied by nov 1

I applied Regular Decision where the deadline was Jan 15th, since I wasn’t really sure whether UF was right for me at the time. I didn’t apply directly on the deadline, though. I applied a few days before.

Not sure of odds then. Good luck.
