For the most part, I think you’ve categorized your schools correctly. Are you in Wake or Mecklenberg? If so, your odds for UNC are lower. Additionally, what major(s) are you considering? Depending on which one(s), Virginia Tech could be anything from a reach to a likely.

Lastly, I would suggest making sure your family knows that there is no merit aid of significance for UC Berkeley, so if you’re accepted, your family would be looking at about $75k/year for it.

My observation from this year is that essays are extremely important at UNC.
