Okay, for the community college transcript, I know my grades for the courses Stats - 89, Intro to C+± 94, Micro - 92, and Chem - 91, but my transcript is literally gone. I have tried to log in to the portal, and it no longer shows my grades, so I don’t know if I should even mention it if there is no tangible proof.
Secondly, do you think if I were to get my SAT into that upper echelon of scores, 1500+, my chances would increase greatly?
Thank you for the feedback!
Yeah, totally get that, at top schools it seems like everything is random at a certain point. Thanks for helping me out, though!
Those are great schools - but don’t forget, those nurses will be working side by side with nurses from schools like - hmmmm - pick your nursing school - any nursing school.
I admit, I was surprised, when I found out my lead nurse at Vandy went to an online school (Aspen). But I was also surprised where some of the residents there went to undergrad - schools like Murray State and Northern Illiniois.
Apply to your list..it’s fine - but like I showed above with UMASS (10% acceptance rate) or Purdue (24%),
Obviously, you’re an above average student and you’ll be fine - but don’t simply have creme de la creme schools and make sure your in-state is in fact a safety.
This is old data - but SDSU is a likely for you. But in nursing, in 2019 anyway, 343 of approximately 6000 got admitted into nursing.
Here’s a thread for you and the list of Direct Admit - I’m not saying to look at Marshall and FAU - but I might have one or two of that level of school on my list (if I was advising my kid…I don’t have a nursing kid but some easy to get into schools seem to have really low acceptance rates for some reason. Of course, there’s schools either non direct admit or direct admit, that have high acceptance rates too.
In the end, control what you can - your schooling - and take your shots but have a safety net - that’s it. If the SAT comes up, then great - and if not, you’ve already got a fine score for most schools.
Good luck.
Have you reached out to the school? That you can’t access it doesn’t mean it’s gone. You took the classes; they need to be reported.
Would your chances increase with a 1500+. Yes but that means little. No where here is UPENN admissions and statistically you will not get in.
Again, try and see - don’t over analyze here - because no one here can give you an assurance either way - only Penn can.
Spend your time on building a varied list and not focused on - will I get in or not.
Penn or Marshall - you can become a nurse and impact lives and work at the top hospitals.
Nursing is nursing. Grads in my county who attended a small local school that nobody has ever heard of work in top hospitals. Those students also do rotations at those hospitals.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to attend a highly ranked, prestigious school….but you do not need to do that for nursing. If you are not accepted you can still be a nurse with a successful career. That is my point.
Nursing is a competitive major at all schools.
What does this mean? You would request that the community college send their transcript to every college you apply to.
You are a NH resident. Those OOS public universities could be a reach for nursing. Are you looking at any of the nursing programs in NH?
Yes, it’s literally gone idk, I will try to reach out some more, but they said they couldn’t access it. I will work on this, though. Yes, I know there are many good nursing programs in NH as well, and I have already looked and know where I will be applying as well.
If the school exists and you really took the classes, they are not gone.
I assume your HS has a copy and/or your counselor can help if not.
You may have to pay for the transcript or if you audited, then didn’t get a grade.
But what you are saying, assuming it’s an accredited school, that story is not going to be bought…and on top of that, you are saying you took the classes…are you just going to let 6 classes you took at the college level that show your competence of college level work slip away?? That helps your chances.
Okay, I will try to reach out. They are spread out among 3 colleges in NH, so I will try to contact support teams for all of them.
You’re taking 8 AP classes this year?
So you’ve gone from the transcript doesn’t exist at one college - to it’s three colleges and it doesn’t exist at any of the three.
Yeah, listen to yourself.
This just isn’t real.
Yes, you need all three and I assume you reported them to the HS.
Yes
If the colleges you apply to want transcripts on application, you can have the community college send your transcript to those colleges. For those that want self-reporting, get another transcript for yourself so that you can be sure that you accurately self-report. Do not omit anything from your college record.
It’s very hard to explain the system. I enrolled at one college for courses, but they are in a system, so I can take courses at affiliate colleges when my home college doesn’t offer said course (example: Intro to C++). I used to be able to see my past grades and courses, and a potential degree. I haven’t taken a course since last year. During that time, they either switched to some new platform or changed something, and I had to go through a whole process to take classes there again, and my account was logged out. And now when I go to Degree Builder, it does not show up, and when I go to view my past courses, nothing shows up either. So, it is a long process, and I definitely took the courses; I remember pretty vividly, so I guess I will have to work with my contact there.
Okay, I am now working on it, thank you!
Why are you self studying Latin? You won’t have a course grade - so it seems irrelevant to any admission gain. I would not do that…it’ll add zero value IMHO.
Well they have plenty of past students - so again, it’s not jiving.
And if you took 6 college classes and your lowest grade was an 89, that’s only going to help your app - you can handle college work.
What you’re saying is illogical…and I’ll leave it at that.
No, I am taking the AP Exam, as my school doesn’t offer AP Latin, but taking Latin at School
So you’re taking 8 APs and Latin…you are taking 9 courses simultaneously?
Correct
