id say ur in a good place, high gpa and act scores will definately help and good courseload. plus ur in-state. definately count on an acceptance letter from ut.
PS: I also am interested in mccombs but i am out of state so we wont be competeing against eachother. What essays are u writing and how r u going to go about them? im pretty stuck because im trying to get any advantage possible as an out of stater and a good essay can provide just that

Thank you for responding! Yeah I’ve been thinking about the essays too. It’s really hard, but not impossible, for out of state kids to get into McCombs just bc so many kids in Texas want to get in. I’d say just be yourself and show who you really are in the essays. I don’t know what other advice to give. Best of luck!

I wouldn’t be so sure about UT. You could definitely get into the school as a whole, if you wanted economics for instance, but mccombs is extremely competitive. I knew someone who was top 5 percent at a huge high school, had a 32 act, and still got rejected. I wouldn’t count mccombs as a match for you, especially since you’re outside the Auto-admit range.

What if you are in auto admit range? What would you say is the average class rank for someone admitted to Mccombs and is in auto admit range? Also, maybe that guy did not have a stellar essay or had a lack of EC’s.

yeah i’ve been worrying about my rank. The biggest reason why it is so low is because of all the music classes i have taken instead of extra AP classes. Would colleges still prefer kids with higher GPAs? Or would they recognize that i spent time doing other things?
