Essays/LORs/Other
I think my personal statement was very strong/distinctive. I had a close relationship with my counselor, but I don’t think any of my teacher LORs were crazy good (they were kinda generic, albeit positive). I was accepted to Georgetown in their EA round, but deferred from American University.

Have you applied and are waiting for a response, or are you planning to apply this fall?

I’d think you are a strong candidate. Georgetown showed this.

American happened likely to see if you’ll stick around or if they are a back up.

Best of luck.

I didn’t pay attention that you have already received acceptances.

With your accomplishments, you are competitive for any college, as you have seen with your acceptance to Georgetown, a college that is a reach for anybody. However, as you have seen with your deferral from AU, which has an acceptance rate that is far higher than that of Georgetown, admissions can be weird.

All that being said, you should be getting your answer in less than a month, and trying to predict whether you will or won’t be accepted is not very useful. Knowing chances is useful for determining a college list, but is a lot less useful at this point. What anybody says here doesn’t change the fact that there are three possible outcomes, and the “chances” won’t change that. You will either be accepted, deferred, or rejected. A 90% chance of acceptance won’t make a difference if you end up in that 10%, and a 5% chance won’t mean a thing if you are accepted.

You excelled at high school, and you will excel at any college to which you are accepted, and which you choose.

Good luck!!!

American seems likely. UVA is a reach, but it might happen.

Got deferred from AU but into Georgetown, so I withdrew my AU app.

so cost is no issue? I ask because in theory AU can be less.

Will you choose UVA over Gtown? I assume or you wouldn’t be asking.

Best of luck
