Yes! I’m sure you’re right about that. When I went to college a million years ago, aid was scarce for lower middle income families like mine. That situation has improved dramatically, especially at ivies and a lot of other tippy - top schools with huge endowments. Even at those schools, and especially at a school like Villanova which is very selective but has a per student endowment far below the top tier…families with very upper middle class incomes (say $200-$300K+) are really squeezed out. They have become a lot more generous for lower and middle “middle class” families who make, say, $75-$150K. But still can be very unaffordable for families who make more than that but aren’t “wealthy”. And with 5 kids! I mean those things are expensive.
