And I will be checking this out :kissing_smiling_eyes:

This way they can keep track of students using different data sets - see whether they “picked right”, comparing academic results for those with and without tests, establish HS profiles

Oh so they do use it  maybe not for admissions but still :unamused: (this is me joking) Thanks for the insight!

Yes, institutional research is just that - not for admissions but as a way to understand the university and it’s processes better.

Noted :relieved: :nail_care:

Smith’s deadline is coming up. How is that application going?

I just resumed school today and submitted my app for Oberlin n Grinnell (late ik ik), and now I’m trying for the smith and macalester essay while trying to crop my WnL own so it fits the word count :sob: And this smith essay is taking something out of me iswr, but idk. I work best sleep deprived so I should have something feasible by midnight :relieved:

Also, can anyone validate or dismiss my worries on Macalester? i know almost all my schools are reaches except Briar and maybe Dickinson cuz they give loans to internationals, but my friend with the 1460 got rejected from Macalester EA and now I’m contemplating switching it out for St John’s Uni NY just cause one guy I met on tiktok from 9jeria got in with his WAEC scores and like 3 ecs :sob: so it’d be like another safety for me. I know I’m going to get a lot of rejections and would probably have to go into debt to actually afford the school, but my friend being rejected suddenly made the possibility realer than it was before so i don’t want to apply anymore :pensive:

So like should I still apply to Mac or just chicken out and do SJU instead :innocent:

Thank you!

Certainly SJU is an easier admit, but be aware that (unless anything has changed recently) a high percentage of SJU students commute to the school rather than live on campus. If that is an important attribute, you should check the current statistics.

Stick with Macalester. And yes odds are, you’ll get rejected by almost all due to high need. Now’s not the moment to chicken out.
What’s the point of SJU? They don’t have full rides.

I wanted to say that I don’t even mind commuting to school, but then I remembered I’d have to like pay to have a placeholder family cuz I can’t rent on my own :pensive: :unamused: or like a facebook grp of internationals old enough to get a place so like group renting or something, but idk how that works

I think finding where to live would be much harder than actually getting in or getting into debt (taking out money isn’t hard until u hae to start paying it back) :sob:

I don’t even want to apply to Mac and Smith anymore cuz their rejections are going to hit :upside_down_face:

Thank you!

:sob: :sob:

Admission :sob: then I face debt after :upside_down_face: I don’t know if I said it before, but I either don’t care enough about putting myself inside debt cuz its very much in theory rn and I might noot get to that stage, or its cuz I’m just blocking out real life consequences and what not cuz my situation is, what’s that word? Yes, desperate :relieved:

Thank you!

The colleges you’re applying to are residential campuses. You don’t have to find a place to live, you live on campus, and the financial aid takes that into account.
Commuter campuses let you live with relatives only if you’re a minor.

If you wish to “save” Smith and Macalester for next year in case you need to apply again, you can do so. :hugs: It may make sense.

You can send your last apps to colleges where odds of admission are good but odds of scholarships not as good, like Hollins or St Benedict/St John’s

If you give us the exact name of the town where relatives live we could find commutable colleges, too.
Some examples still taking applications

Btw Troy has a full ride for a very high GPA/test score combination.

SJU does have dorms, but I don’t expect the campus life would be particularly vibrant. This may be OK with you.

So first years in residentials aren’t allowed to commute? :sob:

I’m running away but yeah we can call it saving :sleepy: that way it makes me feel better :brown_heart:

I’ll check out Hollins, thank you!
I didn’t realize st john’s and benedict were the same thing

For my aunts in Maryland idk :sleepy: but the one in SC lives in Oxford!

GPA/Test score COMBINATION hysterically laughs in 1280
But ill check it out, thanks!

I don’t have options, yh it’d be okay :joy:

I’ll look at troy, Hollins, St Ben and John’s. Thank you!

Troy= That’s more for next year if need be.

oh  noted! Thanks.
