Essay Topics:

Common App I wrote about my experiences as a first generation immigrant and how it has shaped me. It is maybe a 7.5/10.

Why Yale Supplement I wrote about their golf course. 9/10

Choose Topic Supplement I will either write about how I travel a lot or about my trip to Thailand and it wrote be all cliche. I know I am late but choosing early was a last minute decision. Maybe you guys could help me choose which topic?

Also, I am majoring in either Chemistry or Environmental Engineering. I don’t know which one to put down yet. If an essay arises for another college I am prepared to write about both topics. Help me out here as well?

Thank you so much!

I don’t know much about Yale but you seem like you’ve got it.
just wondering, how did you get your ACT up so much? I’ve taken it 3 times and I’m stuck at a 31.

Well first of all I don’t really recommend taking it a fourth time because that just doesn’t look too good, unless you are only applying to certain college that don’t care.

My first attempt I only took one practice test from the red book the weekend before and never analyzed the problems I missed. During the math section, which is by far my strongest, I ran out of time with still 7 problems left and so I had to mark all C’s and G’s. I think I was just so overconfident. For my second attempt, I took 4 practice tests total and analyzed all the problems I missed. I also skipped school the day before the test to take a practice test exactly how I would the next day. 8:00 AM and all of that, which is how I took all of my practice tests.

Some other tips is to get good rest two, even three days before the test. Eat a hot breakfast and just be relaxed. Use your time wisely. Just move from one question to the next and think about what the test makers thought when they made the question and what answer they would create for it.

What are your scores in each subject area?

My highest scores: English 35, Reading 34, Math 30, Science 30
You’re right about the ACT but I already paid for the one this weekend. I guess if there’s some way it goes up a few points I can apply to my reach schools more confidently.

Math is kinda hard to increase your score but in science all you have to do is think about what the most logical answer is. What would the test maker make the answer?

okay I will definitely do that when I take it this weekend. Thank you!
