Chance Me! I chance back!

I have a 29 ACT and 3.06 GPA junior year various clubs and one instrument

applying to:
University of Oregon
University of Wisconsin-madison
University of Minnesota
University of Washington
UCSB

If you could be more specific about your ec’s, that’d be great. However with what you’ve given, I think you have a decent shot at all the schools mentioned. GPA is low, but that’s alright if you were taking challenging courses. Good luck, and I think you have a good chance!

You are in-state for UCSB? If not, you need a minimum UC GPA of 3.4 to apply. If in-state, your chances are low if your UC GPA is 3.0-3.39. UCSB’s 25th percentile for GPA is 3.92 and UC’s are very GPA focused. Your chances are slim.

Freshman Admits for UC GPA of 3.0-3.39:
UCSB: 1%

The best way to determine if you are a competitive applicant is to take a look at the Freshman profile and common dataset.

UCSB GPA and test scores of middle 25%-75% students

High School GPA: 3.92 - 4.23
ACT Composite Score: 27 - 33
SAT Critical Reading: 570 - 700
SAT Mathematics: 600 - 760

Your ACT score is just about average or lower.

3.06/4.00

I’m not sure if this is an UW or W, but if weighted, then it is very low. I need more data, like how many APs you have taken and whether this is UW or W, your major, etc. Assuming this is UW, the following are my guesses on your chances.

UOregon - match
UWisconsin - reach
UMinnesota - reach
UWashington - reach
UCSB - reach

Just because you are in various clubs doesn’t mean you are set for your extracurricular activity background. In fact, colleges do not like well-rounded students; they want you to stick to a few, major-related clubs in which you hold leadership positions. I need to know your leadership positions in and out of school.

Likewise, playing an instrument doesn’t help you much, if not at all.

I have 5 AP classes and I play club soccer, have published music, and have a lot of job experience at a dentist office, that is my unweighted GPA. I am captain of the first robotics team, a senior officer for debate, and an teaching assistant. Play the indian drums tabala, which i have recorded music for companies with mentor.

What is your UC GPA for UCSB? See link in post #2.

3.5 gpa

UC gap is 3.5*

Historical UC GPA data for Freshman admits with a UC GPA of 3.40-3.79 has UCSB at 13%. UCSB is a Reach.

i think you could get into u of o!

Safety: University of Oregon
High match: University of Wisconsin-madison
Low reach: University of Minnesota
Low reach: University of Washington
Reach: UCSB

I think you’ll definitely get into UofO and probably at least one of the other! Although UCSB is probably a bit of a stretch.

Madison and Washington might be reach for you given your low GPA but everything else seems good! Good Luck!

your gpa is very low… perhaps your classes are too hard for you. Instead of all Bs try taking less APs and throw some As in there

I’d love to hear your results and where you got accepted!! uo is my dream(: best of luck!

I got into all the schools I applied too. I am from MD, so I was out of state for all of these schools. If you have any questions just ask
