you seem very qualified, but so are most of the other applicants. it’s a crapshoot for your average, well rounded, good kid (esp bc u need fa). you seem like a good swimmer- could you get recruited? that will really put you ahead for admissions. i would get in touch with the coaches if you haven’t already.

i think sooner is better. like asap. these coaches probably have more kids emailing them and showing your commitment to swimming and letting the coaches know earlier probably reflects well.

unless you like your current school, i would also add a lot more schools (with higher acceptance rates) to your list.

my parents are like you either go to pea or pa or stay home

Why not try to switch their mind? PEA and PA are extremely hard to get in, especially with the rise of popularity in BS this year. If its about FA or something like that Groton, SPS, and some other schools are need blind too. And theres a lot of other schools are that are on the same level as PEA or PA.

I’d really encourage you to apply to more schools. There are many fine schools and frankly it is simply uniformed to just apply to two well known schools when there are probably ten that could easily fit your profile. All boarding schools admissions are very competitive and part iIf you need aid you are really limiting yourself.

My parents were like this too because we have a good school district, but what helped was showing all the programs/opportunities offered and honestly the college matriculation. That’s what was on my parents mind, and I know they admit the student not the school but showing the college matriculation made them go, “wow. Maybe you can go to elite college too” lol.

Is there still enough time? Isnt the deadline January 15th? I don’t want to stress out myself and my parents too much. But idk
Also can you chance me

Yes, there’s time. Most of your essays can be used, some with a little work, at other schools. Most schools will arrange an interview (and you should request one) by zoom for anyone who has submit an application.

Boarding school isn’t really a one time only application window. It isn’t unusual to repeat a year, so if you aren’t admitted this year consider applying next year for ninth year and reclass. Some students join boarding schools in tenth grade. So really, there are three possible entry points you might be considering. And finding a school that offers the right financial aid package AND admissions is critical. Travel is expensive and really adds up. Your parents need to have a really thorough and deep understanding of their finances now and how it might impact your college savings and opportunities.

But really, a good public school district cannot begin to compete with even a middling boarding school. Apply to more schools.

You sound like a good applicant, but so are a lot of other kids.

How do you stand out? Why do you want to attend Andover and Exeter, or boarding school for that matter? Have you attended interviews yet? How strong are your essays?

I would also add safety schools to your list because your current list isn’t very long and both schools are extremely competitive. Keeping your window this narrow is risky.

Overall I think you qualify, but your application needs some refinement
