<p>Hi, I am an international student( Indian CBSE student) who is planning to apply to Penn State-University park. Major Mechanical Engg
My SAT scores are CR:620 Math:700 Writing: 620 Composite: 1940 My high school rank is top 10%(10/139) in a very competitive school with highly rigorous curriculum. My ninth and tenth grade CGPA is 10/10. My 11th grade percentage is 93.2% (3.8 in US system I guess).Subject tests Math Level 2: 800 Chem: 740(Retook in Dec) Phy:710(Retook in Dec)
I have almost 30-35 hours of community service. I also played for my school cricket team, I won the science and social science exhibition for two years running, represented my school at national level for same, I have a merit certificate from CBSE(My education board, for perfect GPA in grade 10) and also many prizes for debating, elocutions, maths projects,etc. What are my chances of getting accepted. I have also been awarded the scholar badge (Percentage more than 91%) for 4 years running. My essay is decent(7.5/10) and writing supplement is excellent(9.5/10). I have an outstanding recommendation from my chem teacher and a good one from my counsellor. </p>

<p>We’ll, your chances of getting accepted seem pretty good. But once you’ve earned ur degree, will you be moving back to India to pursue a career there? Well the reason I ask is because the US job market is in a sorry state, as graduates cannot find jobs to support themselves, let alone pay off their student debt. Why would anybody want to make such a big investment of time and money if it’s not going to pay off?</p>
