wow i find another bboy on this forum! that’s pretty awesome. I’m a rising sophomore right now but the scene in St. Louis is nothing compared to the scene in MN. I have to start up everything and mostly all jams haha. I wish there were bigger jams around here.

Wow, a bboy! Are you attending Brown right now? St. Louis? haha If you know Optimistic crew from MN thats me!

nope im still in hs :P

what’s your bboy name man?

If you think you can significantly bring up your SATs, don’t bother retaking the ACTs or submitting. (or vice versa, but sounds like SATs are what you are focusing on.)
You have otherwise what sounds like the right level of EC, grades etc. taking “hardest course your school offers” etc.
being first gen college counts well, but sounds like you are being given advantages from your parents hard work and at prep school, so that dampens that a bit if true. (if you are yourself a “struggling up the ladder kid” rather than being handed every advantage from your parents, that needs to show up somehow in your application, likely in your essay.)
Check your track times against those of Brown team members posted from meets and see if that might be a possibility. (also is your school one that gets soccer recruiting? Harder to be in the Athletic pool there, but also something to check re whether it is worth coach contacts.)
FYI: I know there is another asian-american (Korean also I think) serious break dancing premed who is a rising Junior at Brown now.

Also, you’ve spammed this same request into multiple college forums. For Brown, they are going to know why you specifically want to go to Brown! (not just generic response to all).

Just bboy isaac from Optimistic Crew. Thank you so much. Yeah. I live with a host-family and learned to be more independent because of money-issues, so I think I’ll write an essay about those struggles. No advantage from my parents other than being able to come to America. Thanks, I’ll work on SAT and ACT I want to bring it up so badly  around 32-34 and 2100-2200

Bumpbumpbump

tu n’as pas besoin pour ameliorer tes scores de SAT (j’espere que je dit que bien?); focus on bigger things. you sound like an exciting person, which might be one of the best parts of your application

Merci beacoup, je comprends^^ Thank you. Now to show that in my applications is the problem…

oo take your time! i applied ED and started with my essays in the beginning of july =] and i believe they’re the strongest part of my application

Thank you! So a lot of focus on the essay. Thanks for the tip

I think you have a decent if not good shot! Your extracurriculars are VERY STRONG (especially in the music area), so that will definitely will help you. I love that you breakdance, too! that’s awesome!! you have many leadership positions too. As far as the numbers go, I think they are pretty good. I would take the SAT once more to try to reach the mid-2100 level (I bet you can do it! :)). Keep doing what you are doing, write killer essays, and have a good interview! Good luck, even if you don’t get into Brown, I bet you could get into a great school! - I’m applying to Brown too, probably ED. It’s an awesome school and Providence is a spectacular city, from what I hear! Good luck fellow Bear-hopeful!
