Chance me (Low GPA)

Hi, I’m an international student currently attending an international school in Japan. It’s quite competitive, considering how COMPETITIVE my grade is right now (literally like a bloodbath)

Courseload (Junior):
IB DP English Lit (HL)
IB DP History (HL)
IB DP Economics (HL)
IB DP Math SL
IB DP Chemistry SL
IB DP Spanish SL
TOK

Senior (same as Junior Year)

GPA: 3.9 (WEIGHTED OUT OF 4.21)
Rank: Top 15% out of 70ish students (but my school doesn’t rank)
SAT I: 2250
SAT II: Lit (620 first time, 740 2nd time), Biology (800)

EC:
-Founder of School of Hope organization (about 400 likes on Facebook page, donated $1000 for earthquake relief fund, did projects such as online video lessons for students in Africa)
-Newspaper Editor-in-chief
-Literary magazine Editor
-Yearbook Editor
-Varsity Cheer (captain) – also did community service on this one
-National Honor Society
-Edited brochure for an international school

Chance for:
UPenn (First choice)
Pomona
Brown
WashU st. Louis
CMC
USC
University of Michigan
Emory University
Boston University
NYU
UMass Amherst

Scores are good and you have one very unique EC, i would focus on that in essay. Although GPA is not perfect, you still have a chance at top schools.
Penn- reach for everyone, but you are competitive
Pomona- low reach (often scattered admissions) once again, you are competitive
Brown- reach (an ivy…)
Wash- high match
CMC- low reach (similar to Pomona)
USC-match
Mich-low match/safety
Emory-match
Boston-high match
NYU-match
Amherst-high match
Apply to all. The ones that are reaches, are reaches for everyone. You have stellar stats and are competitive at all the mentioned schools. With that being said, you are COMPETETIVe, but not necessarily a stand out. Consider the cost of attendance, as it can get very messy for international students. Best of luck.
