Chance me/ match me [international, 3.7 GPA, Computer Science, need full financial aid / scholarship]

How is this a guaranteed admission?

ETA I don’t think you have any guaranteed admissions on your list.

Why didn’t you take the sat or act

By this I mean: your school specifically has an official agreement that has been confirmed by an official at your school, wrt admitting one student from your school and that student would be you.
OR
In the past 10 years, all students from your school with your GPA and record have been admitted to Williams.

Considering Williams a 100% is a bit like saying anyone who applies from your school to Harvard with high financial need is automatically admitted. In most cases it would be a misunderstanding because it sounds impossible. That’s why people are wondering how you can be so sure.

Williams will take your financial need into consideration when they review your application for admission. That you need full funding will NOT work in your favor.

These schools in my list offer 100% of need for internationals

most colleges in my list are liberal arts colleges that do not consider my chosen major. And I care about the financial aid more than the courses offered by the college, as I am not sure about major yet

what do I need to do in order to be qualified enough to get accepted into these colleges ?

BUT most are need aware for admissions for international students. Do you understand that this means your high level of need WILL be considered when your application for admission is reviewed?

Even these wealthy colleges are not a bottomless pit of money.

In terms of qualifying for admission to these highly competitive colleges with VERY low acceptance rates…your chances even with perfect scores, grades and outstanding everything else is still low. These colleges reject more than 90% of applicants…and some even closer to 95% of international applicants. In the pool of rejected students are folks who can be full pay, and have superlative applications. The reality is that there simply are not enough seats at these colleges to accept all of the extremely well qualified applicants who apply.

You need to have some affordable and easier admits in your application list. Find those FIRST…and they well could be in your home country…

@MYOS1634

And ETA, in my opinion, sure…apply to this list of reach schools if you want to. Ut this GPA isn’t strong from these schools.

And why are you going test optional? I ask again…

As MYOS pointed out:

A 3.7 in the context of OP’s school/country might in fact be quite strong.
OP, post your actual score so those with knowledge of international school systems like @MYOS1634 can evaluate your academic strength.

Exactly…but this poster needs to clarify this…

And why they aren’t submitting an SAT or ACT score to support their GPA.

You have two issues:

  1. The colleges want you - and you can only put forth your best portfolio. So that’s what you need to do and colleges will decide.

  2. If they accept you, then you have to hope they will give you enough aid. You do not get to determine how much you need. If the college says you need to pay $20,000 but you want to pay nothing, then you have to pay $20,000 to go there.

If this is the case and they decide you have full need, then with the exception of Bowdoin, it’s likely the colleges will reject you on that basis alone, regardless of your academics. That’s what Need Aware means - they have aid budgets and they’d rather give some to lots than all to a few.

Good luck.

Tests are cost too much in my country ,so I can’t pay for it.

Frankly with full financial need you have very low probability to be accepted at any school in the US. Public schools use taxes to fund their state residents. Private schools need money to operate, they are coming from tuition and donors. Small schools have “smaller” donors. Very few schools provide full ride, and only to very few students. International students are at the very end of this “need” line. Schools do not care that you want to study in the US. Private school priority is to stay in business and generate balanced class (to look good on papers). It is like optimization model - if you give full ride to one student many others will not get any aid. To fill class they need to attract as many students as possible. Giving big aid to one student at cost of others is not working for their business.
Good luck.

I have full sympathy for your position, but I feel it needs to be pointed out that even if you get a full ride somewhere, there are going to be costs that are not covered, like airfare to the US and possibly further transport costs to get to and from college if it’s not in the city you land in. Another example is if you end up somewhere with winter snow and ice (like a number of colleges on your list) you will need to spend probably a few hundred dollars on decent enough clothes and shoes to get you through winter. The visa application fee for the student visa is $185. I have to question how you can afford those if you cannot afford a standardized test. Are there any organizations in your country that might help with these?

Look at the conditions (test required? Which one?) at Dartmouth and Williams.
Then, Bowdoin and Amherst.
Look at application plans: SCEA, REA, ED1, ED2.

Stick to Math as a major for now.
