Chance me Northeastern, USC, and top business schools!!

Hey!!

I am a Malaysian-American high school senior residing in New York City (Queens). Cantonese (Chinese) was my first language and I am a first gen college student. My dad is retired but occasionally works cash jobs (not sure if this counts for financial aid) and my mom gets about 39k annually ← really good for need blind schools!

Academics: I attend an early college (graduate with associates degree - junior and senior classes are all college courses, no APs)

GPA: Kinda got ■■■■■■■■ each year, my “college” GPA is ~3.53 No rankings in my school 4.0 is absolute most and class average is 3.3 i think?? college is hard

ACT: Took twice, taking it again in Oct June 2018 - C: 29 E: 30 M: 30 R: 28 S: 27 W: 10 April 2018 - C: 30 E: 33 M: 39 R: 38 S: 30 W: 9

SAT: took twice, taking it again in October 1360 - R: 660 M: 700 1310 - R:670 M: 640

Extracurriculars: Director General of Model UN (leader) - done for 5 years

President and founder of my school’s business club - new, started this year

Competitive ballroom dancer - social dancing for 7 years, competitive for 3 years

Student Ambassador: - 4 years, represent school to prospective students

Student Government Representative: 4 years Peer Tutor (school affiliated): 4 years Peer Mentor (mentor freshmen): 4 years Diversity Initiative Member (reach out to middle schools for more diversity): 4 years Volunteering: Soup kitchen (5 years but not regularly)

Colleges: Northeastern*, USC, Lehigh, UPenn Wharton (probably no chance) any other Northeast/Cali business schools I should consider?

Thank you so much!!

Not sure how you have an ACT Math score of 39 and Reading of 38 when the top score is 36???

What is your Unweighted cumulative GPA?

“reach out to schools for more diversity” boi what. that is the vaguest thing I’ve ever read lmao

our school prides itself in being the most diverse school in nyc. we give info sessions to schools located in disadvantaged neighborhoods (bronx, some places in brooklyn and queens) because we offer 2 years of college education and provide resources in helping them out of their economically and educationally disadvantaged state. sorry it seems so vague, it was a really short summary!!

@Gumbymom I dont know how to edit this but Math is 29 and Reading is 28*** sorry for the typos!!
My school only does unweighted GPA out of 4.0 because we don’t offer APs

bump!

USC will be a Reach based on your academic stats. Your LOR’s, essays and EC’s may help bump up your chances but you definitely need to increase your ACT for any chance.
