Chance Me @ NYU, UMich, Duke, CMU

As an international applicant, it’s been a pretty long while of researching schools that aren’t super well known outside of the US (basically schools that aren’t Stanford, MIT, or in the Ivy League). I know that those are well, not very easy to get into no matter your profile, considering the high volume of highly-qualified applicants, but what about these schools that I would absolutely love to go to?

Intended major: Psychology
ACT: 36
SAT 2: Math: 800; Chem: 790; Bio: 790
AP: Psychology, MicroE, MacroE, Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, Calculus (all 5; self-studied first 3)
International student at a highly-competitive, highly-selective high school; do relatively well in it, nothing outstanding

Background
Asian, Female, International, Single-parent family

Extra-Curriculars
House (yes, like Harry Potter Houses) Vice-Captain and Representative, Sport Club Captain and Vice-Captain
Volunteered in Myanmar, and locally on a regular basis, nothing particularly outstanding
Two research projects, in each of the major universities in my area (Global T20s); One on linguistics, the other in biology. Currently interning at one of them in a psychology lab

Other stuff:
Admin/marketing internship
Hand reared kittens, take care of cats

Are those schools are ultra competitive, right up there with the ivies, for certain majors.

CMU is better know for engineering and CS. Their need base grant isnt as generous as others.

Michigan is also great for Eng, or Business. Public school so not friendly for international, grantwise.

If you have good grades you have a legit shot.

Good luck.

You scores look good, but can’t really say without GPA.
