Chance me on getting into Deerfield, Middlesex and Exeter

Heey everyone(:

I’m a 9th grader and I attend an international school in Hong Kong that follows the IBMYP curriculum. It’s a member of the G20, which Wikipedia dubs ‘a group of 20 highly selective, leading worldwide secondary schools.’ I’m looking to apply to Deerfield, Middlesex and Philips Exeter for the school year of 2011-2012 (I’ll be a 10th grader by then.)

Basic Info.
9th grader / Year 10 in the IBMYP curriculum
I’m half Chinese and half Filipina on my dad’s side
I really hate sounding like a snob :\ but we are pretty rich, I suppose, and my dad’s the top in his field
I’m a girl
I attend a really prestigious international school
I speak English and Mandarin fluently. I can also converse semi-fluently in French
I hold an American and Hong Kong passport

Grades.
I consistently occupy the top 10% of my year and get on average 57-60 out of the 63 points in the IBMYP grading criteria.
Out of the maximum grade of 7, my average is a 6.5
They don’t really stream classes by level in the IBMYP system though I am in Math Extended (which is like our version of Honors)
My best subjects are English, French, science (especially biology). I’ve received achievement awards (they indicate that you’re #1 in the grade) in English and French. I’m also in the top Chinese class.
I take some classes online, right now I’m taking Johns Hopkins University’s CTY Honors Bio.
I take quite a lot of summer courses. I took CTY’s Intro to Biomed this year and I’m planning to take Fast Paced High School Chemistry and Summer@Brown’s Neuroscience.

ECs.
I dance hip-hop and street 1-2x a week
I dance contemporary 1x a week
I’m a member of the swim team at school
I’m extremely active in community and service

 • I’m the youngest member of the senior committee in my school’s World Wildlife Fund team (a student led group that reps the charity in school). I co-run a blog with the group’s PR person
 • I’m actively involved in the Model United Nations (MUN)
 • I’m part of a club called the Global Issues Group and am one of four 9th graders partaking. Currently we four are working on raising awareness for AIDs at school, organizing fundraisers, sales, etc. to support elementary school children with the disease
 • I write essays and articles for the school website; I also report (and give my own insight on) current events
 • You know how the United States has the Congressional Award? In Hong Kong, we have our own version (Hong Kong Award for Young People or HKAYP). I will receive the award by the end of the year

SSATs.
I took my first ever practice test on Saturday (I’ve never prepared for them before) and got a 99%

SATs.
I took this when I was 12 and received a 1980 one time and a 1850 the other (ahaha not that great I know!)

Thank you so much for reading &chancing ! (:
also, I have an urgent question D:

I heard that if one scores in the 99th percentile on the SSATs, boarding schools will review their applications very very favorably and they have a good chance of getting into anywhere regardless of ECs/exceptional skill in a sport/etc. Is this true? Thanks all :)

for your last questions, it’s not true, but it never hurts :)

Man, 6.5 average is impressive. Most people don’t on this forum don’t realize how impressive though since the IB is hard to come by in the states. I’m just glad your not applying to the school I am!

I’m also in the myp programme. I really dislike the criterias esp in language a. I take language A Thai, language A English and advanced language B Chinese. My Chinese grades were good. Thai is my weak subject though. I’ve had 5.00 to 5.8 average in the past three years. I’m applying to Andover, choate, and maybe sps. Hope they’re impressed in those who r in the ib programme.
