What are the chances of getting an A in POLI11?

The recent essay passed back had a medium of 14 and high of 16 (out of 20). With the curve of +1 (for my section), the high would be a 17, which is a B.

With no one getting an A on essays in my section, what would be the final grade distribution look like? It is very difficult to get an A in Johnson’s POLI11, though it’s still a lower division, intro class?

Hmmm…I’m sure the end curve will help you out. I got an A on the paper (19), so its possible next time! Just study super hard for the final. I feel like he’ll curve it in a way to give a good amount of people As. Go on Veechi classes on facebook.

It feels as if there’s a lot of disparity between TA grading…it’s a little unsettling that papers are 40% of the overall grade and to rely on the final exam (assuming one aces it) might not give enough weight to bring the overall grade up to an A if papers fall on the lower spectrum of the grading scale.

I’d talk to your TA…maybe they can help tell you what to focus on/do better on/etc? And then they will (most likely) like you…and you know how essays are subjective!
