<p>Ok. I’m a Junior.</p>

<p>Here is the deal:</p>

<p>GPA: UW 93.972 Weighted: 96.346</p>

<p>School doesn’t rank, very competitive.
High Honor Roll throughout High School</p>

<p>Test Scores:</p>

<p>SAT: 2040 (770 CR 680 Maths 590 Writing)
ACT: 33 Composite (33 English and Reading, 30 Math, 36 Science Reasoning)
SATII: World History: 710
SATII: Math Level 1: 700
AP European History: 4</p>

<p>Weak EC’s:</p>

<p>-Teen Animal Protectors (11, 12)

-Asian Culture Club (I am White; only non-asian in club) (11, 12)

<p>Not sure where these things would go:</p>

<p>Started my own internet business with my own capital and no guidance from parents (even with discouragement in the beginning!). Pretty much a salesman website kind of thing. Netted about 20,000 USD for my freshman and sophomore year. Stopped in sophomore year to concentrate on studies. Taxes Paid both years.</p>

<p>Went to Tibet Summer 2006 to help Tibetan children in an orphanage. Taught English and did manual labor building a soccer field.</p>

<p>Going to India for the second semester of Junior year to study at an international school. Will continue all AP’s etc. Will do community service in a local Indian hospital and school.</p>

<p>3) I started my own business… mine is not a website company but a violin quartet</p>

<p>Interesting to know that you’re caucasian… it’s pretty impressive for a white guy to teach English in Tibet.</p>

<p>good chance at columbia if you provide compelling essays, especially a ‘why columbia’ piece.</p>

<p>Sorry, but the first person who rated you was wrong…Columbia is one of the few colleges that is a match for nobody. If you get in, it’s because they happened to perceive you the right way, and you met all the “basic requirements” (ie. curing cancer, yada yada yada…)</p>

<p>But, you do make a pretty strong case for admissions, so definitely apply. You might get in.</p>

<p>yeah you do have a good chance, exc are solid and gpa is great but dont assume till junior year is over with and you have your set GPA. you should take math level 2c, math level 1 isn’t accepted by a few places now, and a 3rd might be required for some schools.</p>

<p>I think that many people on this site have the misconception that the Ivies are reaches for everyone. I’d say this is maybe true of Princeton, Harvard, and Yale. These are “The Big Three.” A 33 ACT is ~ 2200 SAT, which is well within Columbia’s range. I know of several people who have gotten into Columbia w/lower ACT scores and non-stellar SAT or ACT scores.</p>

<p>Here’s Columbia’s SAT and ACT ranges according to the College Board Website:</p>

<p>SAT Verbal: 670 - 770
SAT Math: 660 - 760
ACT: 27 - 32</p>
