Please go back to the chance me /match me template and complete the whole thing.

  1. What courses did you take each year of high school?
  2. What is your budget annually for college costs?
  3. Did you and your parents run the net price calculators for these colleges, and are they affordable for your family with minimal loans?
  4. Have you discussed your college choices with your private school college counselor? That person should be able to give you good advice.

What is your budget?

Are you currently a senior?

You will get SMU, LMU and Fordham almost for sure. Many others are reaches but you have a shot. Good luck!

But are they affordable options should this student get accepted?

I dont rly hv a budget and yes I am a senior

yes, but do u think i’d have a shot for merit due to test score and gpa?

Unless you’re full pay, you’re going to need a budget.

Barnard doesn’t give merit aid.

You will get no aid at UCLA, UCSB, Berkeley because the UCs give no need based aid to OOS students and very very very little merit aid. You should plan to spend $75,000 a year plus to attend these colleges. @Gumbymom

UPenn does not give merit aid.

Northeastern, Michigan and USC have very very highly competitive merit aid. Same with Fordham.

So…how much can you spend annually on college if you are seeking merit aid. And are you eligible for need based aid.

You need to run the net price calculators for each of these colleges AND you need to have an annual budget from your family.

Re: need based aid. You have a bunch of colleges on your list that do not guarantee to meet full need should you be accepted.

Please discuss the college finances with your family. You want to have at least one sure thing in your list that is affordable for your family that you would be happy to attend.

I can’t comment on your chances, because you haven’t listed the courses you have taken.

Full price. I attended a boarding school in New England so I do not think you’d be familiar w/ those courses ( no APs offered). At my current school I’ve taken AP German, AP French, AP micro, AP macro, AP enviro, AP comp gov, AP us gov, AP psych, AP Lit.

There are plenty of folks on this forum that are familiar with the courses offered by boarding schools in New England. And yes, many of those schools do not offer AP courses.

But what did you actually take?

Do you have four years each of English, Social Studies, Sciences, Math, and up to at least level 3 of a foreign language (that is not a heritage language for you)? I see you have two FLs AP listed now..but how many years of language study did you do for each of these languages! Do you have any fine arts courses? What is the highest level of math you have taken? Calculus or what?

You have been at your current school since the middle of grade 11 and you have taken all of these courses already? Please clarify.

I hv attended this school 9, 11, 12th. NE boaring school 10th and sem 1 of 11th. I took these APS last yr and this yr. I took spanish in 9th, german in 10th, and french 11 and 12. taking calc honors rn. took advanced bio, adv chem, and honors physics. took intermediate dance, video, and veginner music.

Reasonable shot at some merit at SMU, LMU and Fordham. They will still be expensive

Do you have three years of any of these foreign languages? Some colleges will want that. Others are OK with two years (which you have with French).

Don’t this mean you can pay $95,000 a year ?

Statistically speaking, assuming you meet minimum academic requirements (you took the right classes), you will get into SMU, LMU, Fordham and FSU.

If you’re worried you won’t get in anywhere, apply to substitute safeties - for example, Alabama in addition of UF - you’ll get $28k off based on your stats so your cost would be low 20s, Agnes Scott or Hollins in addition to Barnard. Or you can try a Mt Holyoke. Or if you want to be in a city (Barnard), then College of Charleston is a safe urban pick as is U Denver - which is a bit outside the downtown part of the city like Tulane. You can choose a Loyola or Creighton or Gonzaga in addition to LMU or Fordham, etc.

I suspect you are fine as is. Given you are full pay, some others may admit you like Miami, as these are need aware schools so they will want your money.

But if you are nervous about no acceptances, enhance your lists with a solid sub or two that are easier admits. That way you can rest your nerves.

Good luck.

Can you calculate out your 3 UC GPA’s and post those results?

The UC’s are test blind so your ACT score will not be used for admission or scholarship consideration, only course placement.

The UC’s are closer to $80K+/year to attend.

Which majors did you apply to UCLA, UCB and UCSB?

UCB- Haas, UCLA and UCSB Econ
