I think that my resume would benefit from an interview as well, because I am used to dealing with people because of my job, most of my clients tip me, so I assume that they like my personality. I think that since I am applying to the business school, the fact that I run a business might help me a lot, an make up for my sub par grades.

GPA’s alright, but could be a tad bit higher (UW, I assume). SAT needs to get amped up 200+ points to be considered competitive. Your community service is on par, but I see your main strength in your job experience. An interview would definitely benefit you, just make sure you emphasize what you’ve learned, and all those business-related responsibilities and stuff (as you are applying to a business school and will most likely be interviewed by a business admission rep). Get that SAT up to a 2100+ and I think you’d have an excellent shot.

Honestly, I think you need to raise your test scores and GPA. longnguyen said exactly what I was thinking. I had better test scores, a higher GPA (roughly 3.8), and a fairly difficult courseload (8 APs). I also had some unique job experience (interned on a political campaign for a local politician who also wrote me a recommendation). I was accepted as a spring admit, so based off of my personal experience, I think you’ll be much more competitive if you raise your scores and GPA (although I don’t know what kind of courseload you’re taking). Also, like you said, I think it would be great for you to interview if you’re an outgoing person. I did interview and got one with someone from the business school. It went very well and I believe it played a part in my admission to the USC. So ultimately, I definitely would not rule you out of getting admitted, but if you take a look at the decisions thread (somewhere around pg. 10 I think) you’ll see that many very qualified people didn’t get admitted this year. I think you’re a solid candidate for a spring admit though. Good luck!

I think your Job Experience is a definate plus. Make sure you build on that through your essay. If you can get an interview, thats even better. But as everyone has said before, you really need to improve your SAT and GPA.

I would say a decent amount, but definitely more so SAT, opposite of UCLA. I only pointed that out because the typical accepted or matriculated (don’t remember) UW GPA range for last year was 3.7 - 3.8, but yours certainly isn’t far behind.

Again, just work hard on that SAT and you should have a good chance.

Sorry, I meant to clarify that they look at your GPA a decent amount, but I think your senior grades only if you are borderline. That’s my personal take, at least.

There are a lot of very competitive high schools in Southern California, so USC tends to look really closely at SATs and GPA if you’re from out-of-state. Hopefully your 2nd semester GPA is very impressive, and shooting for 2000+ on the SAT will be a big plus.

The extracurriculars look good, especially if you’re interested in Marshall/Leventhal. I’m looking at maybe a 60% possibility of acceptance.
