Chance Me Please NEU, I'll Chance you back

I just submitted my Northeastern University early action application and I am anxious/nervious about the decison. I was hoping for some feedback and some honesty to put my kind at ease or get a sense of what to expect.

I have a 3.35 weighted GPA so far with my grades getting better each year as I have increases the rigor of my course load. I have taken in total 12 AP/Honors in all 4 years and have 4 AP's this year. The first quarter just ended and I got a 3.8 and am sending those grades to them.

My Sat scores are a 1920 with a 690 in CR, 600 in math, and 630 in writing (with a 12 essay)

My teacher recommendation is very good, but I feel that my essay may be a bit to broad, but it does focus on me in the majority.

Where I am hoping to stand out are in my extra curriculars. I am involved in 6 honor societies, Model Un, Debate, and am captain of the Swim and dive and Volleyball team. I am an Eagle Scout and also officers in the high school newspaper and other clubs.

Despite being below the average GPA (3.7) of the school, fallen the middle average accepted for everything else like SAT, but with admissions these days you never know. Does anyone know what my odds look like so far?

Also what are my chances for Syracuse, umass, Boston U.

I'm applying out of state aswell

Good chances for Boston U and the others. As far as Northeastern goes, it seems unlikely with that score on the sats. Sorry bro, but if your essays were good, you have a shot.

Chance back : ;/a>

But Northeastern's minimum 50% of accepted students SAT range is 1880-2090. And I fall above in CR & Writing

Incoming freshman profile, fall 2011:
gpa: 3.7-4.2/5
sat: 1890-2140 (middle 50%)
For my school, 95% of those who applied w/ a 90+ average got in.
50% of those who applied w/ a 85-90 average got in.
So I think you have at least a 50% chance!

Thanks, haha that's kinda reassuring, but also risky.

yea but your gpa is lower than their average. sat score doesnt make up for it, and you have no hook.

My extra curriculars could be my hook, also I took 2 college credit courses at Georgetown and got A's in them. Also I applied EA, forgot to mention that

What did you get on your subject tests?

I just took them, but expecting over 700's in us history, literature, and physics

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I think you've got a 40-50% shot. Your ECs will help your lower GPA, and its upward trajectory will help your application.

Please chance me back
;/a>

I think because of your EC's you are a fairly competitive candidate. When you say 3.7 gpa is that weighted? Your SAT's are a little below average, but so are mine, lol. I'd say if you killed the essay, have good recommendations and are applying to a less common major you have a decent chance.

I applied for business/ international relations

Business is usually a really tough major to get into at any University other than tech institutes. That will probably lower your chances. International Relations is probably easier to get into. Also you can always change majors while in the school.

It asked for top 3 majors so hopefully if I don't get business originally they just sort me into another one.

Yeah, I think you have a fair chance, maybe 30%

i think you'll get into northeastern. im applying there also as well as bu
