<p>Hey everybody i’m really new to collegeconfidential and I just wanted to make a first post to see if I would have a good chance getting into these schools. Let me just briefly list my qualifications.</p>

<li><p>Canadian (from Toronto)</p></li>
<li><p>Received a composite score of 33 on the ACT</p></li>
<li><p>Maintained a 92-94% Average in all of the courses through four years of high school.</p></li>
<li><p>Extracurriculars: Student Council Vice President (Largest School in Toronto), President of the United Way Council (Raised over $12,000 annually for 4 years), Fundraiser of the Athletic Council, DECA Ontario Provincial Officer & International Finalist. Captain of the varsity Rugby team at school. Played professional club level for Toronto Rugby.</p></li>
<li><p>Internships:
-Business Development Intern at Syncapse Corp. Was one of the two only high school interns across the six global offices. supported the core team in dealing with multi-million/billion dollar companies.
-Marketing Intern at International Capital Management</p></li>
<li><p>Business Venture:
-Ran a small venture that raised $40,000 over 5 months across Three Provinces.</p></li>

<p>My goal is to apply for Early decision @Cornell for AEM Major. Want to specialize in Finance. Also am thinking of Penn for Wharton, and Yale (Haven’t decided). The fact that I haven’t taken the subject tests really dragged me down. Other schools I have in mind include: Brown, UCBerkeley, Michigan, etc.</p>
<p>From this alone I’d say you are definitely quite competitive for admission into UPenn, Yale, Brown, UC-B, and Michigan (all the schools on your list). UPenn, Yale, and Brown are reaches for you as they are for almost everyone. UC-B would be low reach, UMich is a match. </p>
<p>However you need to take subject tests (and do well too). Take at least 3. Also do you have any AP or IB scores? Class rank?</p>
<p>Cornell is a reach or low reach. If you really like Cornell though i would TOTALLY apply ED, I think you’d have an excellent chance at Cornell ED. Some of my peers have gotten into Cornell with stats not as good as yours.</p>
<p>But def try to bring up your average a little, see if you can get above a 95. Wouldn’t hurt.</p>
<p>Thanks. I am definitely trying to apply for ED. I’m not so sure if you know this, but in Canada, the standards are different. My GPA would definitely be 3.9+. I’m also planning to write the ACT again in order to boost my superscore to 34. Would you say that would definitely bring my chances up?</p>
<p>Yeah first priority should be SAT Subject tests. Get 800s. Then you should boost your ACT. 33 is ehh for these schools, kinda below average for Yale and Wharton. Other schools I would recommend are Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth, Princeton, Emory, UVA, UCLA, WashU, Carnegie Mellon, Lehigh, Duke, Amherst, Williams, Notre Dame, Chicago, Northwestern, Rice, Vanderbilt, Boston College,…</p>
<p>Thanks. But I specifically chose the schools that only requires ACT + Writing. And yeah I’m planning to write my ACTs again to boost my superscores to the 34-35s.</p>
<p>You seem like a totally good candidate for everywhere except uc berkeley just because you’re from canada. Also you should check with each school because I at least know that ucs don’t superscore act scores and I’m not sure what other schools do</p>
<p>You said above that you “specifically chose schools that only require ACT + Writing”. Did you mean by this that you thought that the other schools thatImSoAmbitious mentioned require the SAT? Double check, because from all that I have read, almost every single school in the U.S. (including the Ivies) will take ACT with Writing IN PLACE of SAT–ie they look at one as equal to the other. In the olden days, the East and West Coast schools (and a few others-eg Carleton) required the SAT, but now that has changed and almost ALL take ACT w/ Writing or SAT, your choice.</p>
<p>@Jennieling. Yes That was exactly what I meant. I will be utilizing the ACT+Writing Scores in place of the S.A.Ts. For example, Cornell is definitely a school that asks for SAT or the ACT+Writing. @WestCoastGal. Thanks! I researched about that last night :)</p>
