Congrats on your fine accomplishments. As I’m sure you know both Brown and Yale must be considered a reach for any unhooked applicant.

Apply early to the college you most want to attend. If you apply (binding) ED to Brown you should be confident that college is your absolute top choice.

Ask your counselor at school but both are reaches - really for all.

This may not apply specifically to your school but at Brown, 92% are top 10 ranked and at Yale it’s 96%. If you aren’t, it is extra unlikely - but again that may not apply to your school so ask the college counselor at school.

What school does your child like? As everyone has indicated, both schools will be high reaches. However, Brown’s ED acceptance rate (14%) is much higher than Yale’s REA rate (3.7%). In fact, applying Yale regular decision is nearly the same as applying to Yale REA. However, without a hook, it will be a challenge to get into both. Good luck to your decision. I presume there’s plenty of targets and safeties as well?

I note Brown has some advice on this subject:

Please do not assume that your admission chances are improved by applying under the Early Decision plan. The Board of Admission makes the same decisions under Early Decision that it would under the Regular Decision plan.

So this really should be just about whether one of these colleges is your clear favorite, and if you are comfortable committing without seeing what other offers you might get.
