@nolanconcepts Well, then your chances for the Ivies are automatically 0%. Ivies require the submission of 2 of them.

@basedchem Damn, wish my counselors had told me that a while back. How about Vanderbilt and Stanford?

@nolanconcepts You seem like a stellar student, but Stanford is just a shot in the dark. It’s an absolute crapshoot. Vanderbilt maybe, but it’s still a reach for the selectivity. Also, ACT is a tad low.

Also, regarding subject tests, they are not “required”, but instead the website says “strongly recommended”, which basically means “required if you want a decent shot”,

With your test scores you probably won’t get merit. How about UF?

Stanford recommends them, so you dont need them, but if your competing against thousands of applicants who have, then your kinda already starting behind.

@basedchem I have been practicing my ACT tests for about a month straight now, trying to raise it to a 34. Also thanks for letting me know about the Ivy’s. Pretty disappointed I was never told this by anyone from my school, but it’s in the past now. What colleges do you believe I should go for now? Rice and Duke?

@nolanconcepts Do you have an intended major? How much can you pay? Since you mentioned the need for FA, run the NPC for a list of potential TARGET schools (which you have none of) and other schools for affordability.

Also, you still have time to take subject tests. Are you sure you can’t do that?

@basedchem Computer/Electrical engineering, looking to pay around 15k or less, and I have baseball which is almost 7 days a week. Thanks for helping me out, and I’ll make sure to run the npc.

@basedchem is wrong about the Ivies and subject tests. Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Penn are all subject test optional now. Also, I believe some schools like Columbia allow you to submit just the ACT with writing and no subject but you need to look this stuff up for yourself.

Stanford, Princeton = No.

They are all test optional, but you know what they mean when they say optional. Borderline required. You’d be starting out behind. I don’t like your odds currently at Stanford Princeton or UPenn. Vanderbilt is a maybe. The florida schools are fine.

Just take the subject tests. You have very good stats, and it would be a shame to get declined simply because you were missing some credentials. You still have time to take them, and it really won’t hurt to put in the extra effort.
