Chance Me Please? Unique Situation

I am a Hispanic student. Applied as a Freshman. HOWEVER. I graduated high school last year. I attended West Point Prep School but dropped out because I hated it (I could have just waited it out but you dont get college credit during the prep year) so I left to attend a community college so i could get some credits. I applied to UMD as a priority freshman.

I had a 3.45 GPA, took 5 APs in high school, SAT of 1850, Captain of the varsity wrestling team, journalist, Student ambassador, play an instrument, tons of involvement in community (youth group, community service).

Also had to go through getting recomended by a Congressman to be allowed into West Point Prep.

Do you think this gap year will affect me getting accepted? :open_mouth: thanks.

Also I submitted an essay explaining my weird situation and sent transcripts from when I was there. I had all B’s and an F in military science that my Officer gave me just because i was leaving. I contacted him to send a letter over so that he could explain that i didnt get an F because of lack of performance. He stopped contacting me… but i hope they just overlook it since then again, what is an “F” in Military Science at West Point Prep school to a civilian college like Maryland?? At least i hope
