Chance me, please!

I’m currently a first-year student in the UPR of Mayagüez in Puerto Rico. I want to transfer to Boston College. I have around a 3.5 or 3.6/4 GPA and I got a 1670 in my SAT’s. In high school I had a 3.65/4 GPA, school newspaper reporter, soccer team, secretary of student council and my graduating senior class.
What are my chances? Also, do I have a chance at any scholarships?

Scholarships are pretty hard to come by at BC, they’re really only given to the very very top applicants. Financial aid is a bit more generous, but BC still tends to run on the expensive side of things. I don’t know anything about the guidelines for SAT scores for international students, but I know BC has a mid-50% score of about 2000, so that would be high 600s to low 700s on each section. Are those GPAs weighted or unweighted?

Dear ruthie369 : There are just too few parameters in your paragraph to offer meaningful thought, however some data points wich are easily researchable on the internet. A three-way SAT score of 1670 is actually below the bottom quartile at Boston College. Unless there are specific extenuation circumstances, you need to explain that in your application.

Your high school and collegiate GPAs indicate that you are a solid B+/A- student which tends to be slightly on the fringe at a Top 40 institution.

You will not qualify for a Presidential Scholarship at BC and therefore would be facing a need-based aid package if required.
