Chance me please

Hello, I am looking to go to the University of Michigan in the Fall of 2012. Please be so kind as to rate my chances of being admitted into the Ross School of Business. I am currently a senior in high school, and I'm planning to major in Finance/Accounting/Business. Here are my credentials:

Weighted GPA: 4.5 out of 5

This GPA does not factor in my first term senior year grades, which are:

Accelerated English - A-
AP Statistics - A
AP U.S. Government and Politics - A-
Accelerated Mandarin IV - A
AP BC Calculus - A

Class rank: Top ~10-15% (there are ~360 or so students in my grade). My school does not provide students with actual class ranks, so this is only an estimate.

Freshman Year classes: Accelerated English, Accelerated Algebra II, Accelerated World History, Honors Biology, Honors Mandarin I, and other irrelevant electives. At my school, the "Accelerated" level is the highest level besides AP. "Honors" level classes are one level below "Accelerated".

Sophomore Year classes: Accelerated English, Accelerated Geometry, Accelerated World/American History, Honors Physics, Honors Mandarin II, and other irrelevant electives.

Junior Year classes: Accelerated English, Accelerated AB Pre-Calculus, AP U.S. History, Accelerated Chemistry, Accelerated Mandarin III, and other irrelevant electives.

Senior Year classes: Accelerated English, AP BC Calculus, AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP Statistics, Accelerated Mandarin IV, and other irrelevant electives.

AP Tests: AP U.S. History - 5
AP BC Calculus - not yet taken
AP U.S. Government and Politics - not yet taken
AP Statistics - not yet taken

SAT Reasoning Test: Math - 800 Reading - 690 Writing - 740
SAT Subject Tests: Math II - 800 U.S. History - 770 Chinese with Listening - 740

Extracurricular Activities/Clubs:

Mandarin Club (4 years): Member
Speech and Debate (1 year): Member, won 3rd place in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate
Chinese National Honors Society (1 year): Member/tutor
Writing Center (1 year): This is a tutor center for people who need help with writing. Member/tutor
Investment Club (1 year): Member/secretary
Piano (5 years): 5 years District Winner (in National Piano-Playing Auditions), ranked as Advanced-C level by American College of Musicians

Other factors:

I was born in China and came to the United States in 2nd grade. I live in Massachusetts. I am fluent in Mandarin in terms of speaking and listening, but less so in writing. I am generally accepting of people because I value the perspective that others can add to my life.

Thank you so much for reading over this. If there is anything I forgot, please say so and I will provide it. Thanks again!

Pros: SATs, GPA (if you actually mean it is on a 4.0 scale)

Cons: EC, Ethnicity, Class rank

No, my school's GPA system is out of 5, and it's weighted. Unfortunately there's not much I can do about my ethnicity and yes I do understand that I am a ORM. Thanks for your input.

I have a better gpa than you but you have better SAT and we have similar class rigor! looks like your ec's are good! I think you have a great shot... I just got accepted last night! god luck :)

Congratulations and thanks! Are you an in-state applicant or out of state applicant?

Let me know how it goes. I hope you get in ! :)

Thanks, I hope so too.

I am OOS.
Good Luck!!!

Thanks, but I'm applying under RD so I won't know for quite some time.

bump bump bump

what is your unweighted gpa? thats what michigan cares about.

I would say you have a good shot at being accepted. Your extracurricular's aren't too amazing, but I think you have other strengths that should easily make up for it. Good luck!

Ok. Understand this. Your a reasonable applicant. You've got as good a chance as anyone else.

@ lindsyoxo, my school doesn't give un-weighted GPA, and I don't know how to calculate it.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

U-M does not even look at the unweighted GPA - take it from a current student here.
