Chance me please!

I’m planning to apply to Cornell (Human Ecology, pre-med major) early decision with the following credentials:
ACADEMIC

  • top ~1% of my class (4/375)
  • 3.9 unweighted GPA
  • 29 composite on ACT
  • plan to take my SAT II’s for biology and math
  • AP English junior year (4 on exam); taking AP Biology, Literature, and Calculus this year
    EXTRACURRICULAR
  • 4 years of high school tennis (2 JV, 2 Varsity) and 1 year as team captain
  • president of school Latin club
  • 3 years on UIL academic team, participated in spelling/vocabulary and ready writing events (placed 1st in district s/v, 2nd rw sophomore year; 2nd in district s/v junior year)
  • volunteer work at library and tennis camps every summer
  • worked at a Chinese restaurant since junior year

Obviously my credentials aren’t as strong as most Cornell applicants, but I know that there is a higher percentage of acceptances for early decision, and essay-writing is one of my stronger skills so I’m helping those will help me a lot in the running.

bummmmmmp?

Please see if you can raise your ACT score.

ACT score is the big hole in your application, below the 25th percentile.

Try the ACT one more time. Good luck!

Try the SAT I in October or November. Or put off applying ED to retake the SAT or ACT.

Pre med isn’t a major. You choose a real major and then follow the pre med track by taking the required pre med classes (chem, physics, bio, eng, orgo).
