Tuition: not an issue

“Tuition: not an issue”

I generally find that hard to believe. Most parents don’t have a 300k wad of cash lying around for an all expense paid trip to an exotic university. At least not without an unreasonable amount of debt.

I wouldn’t know what would be a good fit for you, but I’m always hesitant when I see a reach-heavy list where almost everything is either private or out of state. The three most important things when choosing a college are affordability, flexibility(major), and marketability(employable major).

The next thing is this. Are you serious about going to Pitt or Penn State if you find out you can’t go to these other schools?

Thanks for your comment.
I will not qualify for any need-based scholarships and I agree money does matter, and decisions will be need to be made according to what / if I get offered anything, in-state or out.
All I am doing right now is trying to understand where I might fit.
I will not have a problem going to Pitt or PSU, if that is all I manage to get into.

OK, that’s helpful  Statistically the list is good and they’re mostly a good match for your stats. Here’s my advice. You’ll need to treat finances as a precondition before you even start applying anywhere. Before you even start typing, you’ll want to find out if you can afford it. An out of state university is about triple the tuition of in-state, and financial aid is going to favor residents. This means you’re on your own to pay the rest of the tuition.

If you’re looking for merit aid, you’re eligible for the Presidential scholarship at University of Alabama and you’re eligible for a similar scholarship at Univ of AZ
