Notes: I’ve heard of poor high school/great college transfer success stories, but I am not sure how I stack up. I understand that most schools don’t look much at HS transcripts for Jr transfers, but my past still makes me anxious.

^ummm im not really one of the “expert” that chances people, but i tell you about my story.

Basically in HS i did terrible, and did not get into any school that I wanted. And it all turned around for me at JC. Your JC gpa is higher than mine and you got more extracurricular than I did, so I think it’s pretty safe to say that you’d get in.

Thanks, mynameiseric. It’s always nice to hear from others who’ve had similar situations.

Anyone else have comments?

um. can someone answer this question: why do people with lower GPA’s (like 5-6 B’s) but with higher SAT’s seem to have a higher chance on these boards? I find that very funny… whatever… I know, I know… now one is admission officers here…

lastofthepirates: your stats are an anomalistic compared to the posts here. You sound like you’re more on the essays-side just because your situation is unusual. I won’t cast a judgment.

calitennisgirl55: It just depends.. . especially on the “soft” factors (essays, extenuating circumstances, etc.).

lastofthepirates,

Don’t worry about your HS past. HS has no bearing on transfer admissions, at least that’s my understanding. For example, I know of a student that is currently here who graduated from a continuation high school, and was a fifth year senior to boot. However, she did remarkably well at her JC, and was admitted to UCLA. For what it’s worth, I hope it eases your anxiety.

Thanks Fisico.

I’ve heard more than a few of the JC success stories, and it certainly eases my nerves a little.

It is still a very long wait for transfer applicants. :(

ummm if i got into ucsd, does that mean that i will have a lower chance to get into LA?!!?!?! freaking out

bumpppp…!

No, there’s no correlation.

waaaaaaaaait. so… do UC’s only calculate your 10th/11th total GPA’s? they don’t even LOOK at your ninth grade one? they don’t even look at your weighted/regular GPA?! so if some1 had there art class during 10th grade instead of 9th, the one who took it in 9th would essentially have a higher “UC” Gpa… ugh.

no they don’t look at 9th…
why is this news to people?
man, high school counselors are not doing their jobs these days…

if i got rejected at sd am i auto reject for la??

NO SAKLFJSD;LFKJSD;akdfa;lskfj;dslfLKSJDF;LKA

If we’re below the averages and didn’t get a “supplemental information” request, does that mean a rejection?
