I live in California, btw
chance me at:
UC Berkeley
UCLA
UC San Diego
UC Santa barbara
CSULB
CSU San Luis obispo
SFSU
SJSU
U of Chicago
NYU
USC
Brown

obvisously, my grades improved alot since my freshmen year, which shows growth, which is what the colleges are looking for, right?

According to my calculations, your UW GPA is a 3.562. This being said, here’s my estimation of your chances:

UC Berkeley- Big Reach
UCLA- Reach
UC San Diego- Low Reach
UC Santa barbara- Match
CSULB- Match
CSU San Luis obispo- Don’t know enough about this schol
SFSU- Match
SJSU- No idea, sorry
U of Chicago- Big, big reach (you probably won’t make it in)
NYU- High Reach
USC- Reach
Brown- Big, big reach (you probably won’t make it in)

While colleges do like an upward trend, there is only so much that can do for you. While you have the advantage of being the first in your family to go to college, URM status, and low income status going for you, the SAT and GPA are what hurt your application.
Again, this is just my take. I would like to see what others think.

I thought the UC’s only count your soph. and junior years, so shouldn’t that help me out substantially,
making my UW for UC’s 3.73, I think. haha It might be slightly better, idk, but the weighted should be 3.96, wich is still .2 less than the cal and ucla average, even though I am in state.
I know its not a HUGE difference, but I am hoping it will narrow some of the gaps, or am I just setting myself up for failure?
haha
It’s just that some people at my school got into berk. with similar stats, and I had a girl in one of my classes that got into U of Chicago, even though in the class I had with her, I was clearly the better student. But then again, she probably had better test scores. I kind of knew the SAT would be my demise.
also, there are 4 EC’s I forgot to mention, having to do with music, for 3 years, as well as having a job for 2 years, which I think might help.

I knewbrown is a huge reach, and in actuality I didn’t think I would get in, I just want to know I was considered. haha, I bit pathetic, I know.

bump
please?

bump.
I am desperate for more replies.
It’s sad, I know.

Prospective major?

U of Chicago, Brown, and NYU - reaches.
USC, UC Berkeley, UCLA - low reaches (you’re in-state, which helps a lot with the last 2).
UCSD and UCSB - matches
both CSU’s - safeties
I don’t know too much about SFSU and SJSU, sorry.

Anyways, keep in mind that even schools that are reaches can be possibilities because you have a lot of stuff that they typically look for: minority, first generation, low-income (which means you’ll probably get good financial aid at your matches and reaches if you get in).
Applying to some of those top-tier schools can sometimes be a crapshoot, but I think you have a good chance. Good luck!

Considering: Business, Marketing, pre-law.
