Colleges of Interest:

University of Pennsylvania (chances ED vs. RD?)
Princeton University
Brown University
College of William and Mary
University of Richmond
University of Virginia
The College of New Jersey
University of Delaware-Honors College (double legacy)

I forgot to add that I am half Indian and half Jewish, and do not really define myself as one or another. Which would work out more in my favor?

im no expert but let’s see…
-UPENN: I would say very good chance if you’re applying ED.
-Princeton: maybe, i would say 75%
-Brown: good chance, 80%
-College of W&M: I know a couple of people whose stats were lower than yours that got in, so very good chance.

 • Richmond: very good chance
 • Virginia: very good chance
 • College of NJ: havent heard much of it
 • Delaware: please, you’ll get in ;).

you have a stellar transcript. maybe you should take the SAT’s again to increase the math. other than that, great EC’s and awards. don’t worry, you’ll succeed in any institution.

Personally, I don’t think that being half Indian or being half Jewish will help you. Jews are abundant at most top schools, and being half Indian doesn’t qualify as being a URM. Your grades and SATs are pretty good, but definitely try to improve in Math, because it definitely appears to be a weaker point. If your essays and recs are good, I would say these are your chances:

University of Pennsylvania (chances ED vs. RD?) - 45% ED, 30% RD
Princeton University - 15%
Brown University - 30%
College of William and Mary - 65%
University of Richmond - 80%
University of Virginia - 55%
The College of New Jersey - 95%
University of Delaware-Honors College (double legacy) - 90%

Good Luck!

PS: If you’d like to chance back, here’s the thread
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/746059-why-did-i-only-fall-love-my-reaches.html

Thank you both so much! I really appreciate your honesty. I am going to take the SATs again to try to raise math over a 700.

Anyone else have any input?

No offense stacks101, but you are really overestimating the probability of her getting into brown and definitely princeton. Listen to Siresong, thats pretty spot on, though I would give you slightly more than 45% for ED, maybe 50%?

thanks guys. anyone else? bump

oh and, my school does not rank, so it’s either top 5 or 10%. there are only about 185 people in my class.

Yeah, the Ivies- well, you’d be a better fit at UPenn anyways, and ED would be about half again your chances to getting in. The rest are matches/safeties.

I agree with the posters above. I think that you have a good chance of getting into all of those with the exception of the Ivies. However, I do think you have a good chance at UPenn:) Good luck!

UPenn has an over-abundance of Jewish and/or Indian girls from NJ; demographics may decrease your chance…even ED…you HAVE to bring up that math SAT score to even have a chance though…

University of Pennsylvania (chances ED vs. RD?) - reach
Princeton University - reach
Brown University - reach
College of William and Mary - match
University of Richmond - match
University of Virginia - high match
The College of New Jersey - match
University of Delaware-Honors College (double legacy) - in

Thank you. I really don’t consider myself Jewish or Indian. I think of myself as a Caucasian with no religious preference. I just didn’t know if having that background could help, since it is who I am.

I know the ivies are a stretch, and like I said, as soon as the October SATs come I will definitely try to improve my math score.

I appreciate all the input!!

…bump

bump for the night.
