Am I the only one who thinks “toss up” is overly optimistic? Did I miss something?
I also think BC and UVA are a little too optimistic.

NU has a sub 10% acceptance rate. Definitely a reach.
They have higher ED numbers but much of those applicants are hooked.
And Tulane, Michigan, and Northeastern also.
I agree. Almost the whole list needs to be brought back a peg.l, more in some cases. OP’s stats are fine, but the reality is they are pretty middling for this list.
No one has really mentioned this, but with the GI-Bill and half tuition,NU COA would be about $55K (plan for 5% increases per year)…is that affordable for your family? You don’t have to say that here, but please do make sure with your parents and run the NPCs at all your schools if you haven’t. Here’s NU’s:
I did mention that the GI Bill does not automatically cover 50% of tuition for private schools. Hopefully, OP has figured all of this out ahead of time since they already applied ED to Northwestern. Hopefully, they will come back to clarify.
Yes we used GI on two kids one at Public University for grad school and one at Ivy. You are looking for yellow ribbon schools at the private schools. If not do not waste your GI benefit. It won’t cover 1/2 at most non yellow ribbon privates
I would agree that all but George Mason is a reach. So first question is would you be happy there? If so keep you list as is. I agree that George Washington is reach/target with your stats. The advice to look at the stats and if ED or EA school to get a better picture of the admission history I think is key. My kids got yield protected at Northeastern but it is a crap shoot for anyone and gets harder every year. I would say ED to UVA would increase your chances EA not really
My GPA went up to a 3.92 after semester 1, and so far I have gotten into George Mason, deferred from Northwestern (ED), Tulane (EA), and UMich (EA), and only rejected from UNC which was highly expected.
The chance mes are above. Congrats on Mason.
Good luck on the deferrals. Do your LOCIs if needed.
