I am trying to use my international experience as a hook. My essays are solid and my recs will be great.

My question is about my SAT 2’s. Since Egypt is a Muslim country, the october test date was moved to the 18th and so the scores won’t come till the 5th or 6th of November. If I SCEA to Stanford, would i have to rush my scores so can i just send scores?

bump please reply

I am pretty sure that you can just send the scores. The fastest way is to name Stanford as a recipient of the free score report (1 of 4) - you can probably still add it on the college board web site. From what I’ve heard, rushing the scores does not really get them there any faster because rushed scores get there one by one, and have to be “hand-processed”. Some schools do not accept rushed scores for that reason - I am not sure what Stanford’s policy is on that.

Nov 1 is a postmark date, so many parts of many applications (especially international ones) will get there much later. So your scores will be fine.

thanks for the reply. i tried to enter stanford as one of my 4 recipients but it’s already too late.

what about chancing me?

Upa91,

It is good to see other international students so interested in Stanford. I was an international student myself, and graduated from Stanford in 2008. To be honest, I would not go with the country diversity theme in your essays because they don’t like it. When I first got on campus, an admissions officer already sees your diversity in the schools/countries you’ve been to, and it would only be useful if you focused on one, inspiring experience in ONE of your countries.

Also, I noticed the standard level French, and it might bring up some red flags as to your fluency in French.

Also, your EC’s don’t show any consistency over the years. Moving from Badminton for one year, tennis another, etc. Your SATs and GPA are decent, and could be acceptable. Then again, Stanford is not as concerned with scores as their applicant pool is highly qualified.

Hopefully, you are applying regular decision so you can focus your essays on what I mentioned earlier. Right now, I don’t know how it will be viewed by the admissions office. Don’t worry, there are tons of other great schools out there, but Stanford is truly an amazing experience.

How did your SAT IIs go?

Also, please do not stress your Indian ethnicity too much, as Stanford has so many of these applicants.

Your course load looks nicely balancing and not overly quantitative. Hopefully your SAT IIs are Humanities based so you can differentiate yourself from the applicant pool, showing your diverse educational background. Most international applicants have shown proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, and Math, but fail to expand farther than these areas.

While Stanford may not be looking for a well rounded candidate, it is looking for a well rounded high school education and experience.

If you have not sent your essays yet, I would be glad to take a look.

Good Luck and let me know if I can be of any help!
