chance me plz

i’m an international student of chinese ethnic born n raised in hk
i been studying in england for 2 years and i’m applying Vanderbilt, michigan state, u of washington and arizona state

i scored 1770 in my sat (570CR, 480writing, 720 math, the other time i scored 490CR, 540writing 690 math) but english is my 2nd language and i have a rigid toefl score,

i speak perfect oral english and i believe i nailed the alumni interview of vandy. have good recommendations, predicted grade AAAB, but unfortunately i flunk on of the test (retakable, but my the time my a levels are out college already started). i take some of the hardest courses there is in england rite now.

i know it aint the best resume there is but would my ethnic background and multi country international experience gimme the edge?

No, your ethnic background and multi-country experience will not give you an edge. Vanderbilt is a big reach regardless, but U of Washington is a low match (better than 50/50 chance there), and I think it’s likely you’ll get into Michigan State and Arizona State.

U of W and Vanderbilt=Reach. Being first generation chinese-american to go to college helps slightly; the first-generation to college more than your ethnicity. But because you are international, the advantage is non-existant. Good luck.
